My thoughts only...My vote is for Travis Warren. I respect the music the Shinn has done but I really can not get into his music at all. I think TW solo music is amazing and can not wait for the show on the 6th. Not sure Shinn could have pulled off what TW did with Blind Melon. Regardless, Blind Melon needs to find a "new" singer and get some new music out....I think we can all agree with that. Later Melonheads

Ahhh ok. I forgot to set the "poll" option to staff only. Doh! Carry on.. My apologies sir. I was wondering why you were the only one to have posts in that section, but it appeared to be the correct place for this. Sorry, and thanks for moving it.

tough one, but i went with chris shinn. he really has his own style and sound. travis is fantastic and also an amazing, creative talent..... and sings a mean melon song. i just love the tone of shinns voice. he and travis both have a great range, but i love the clarity and thick sound chris gets. i think the perfect melon singer would lie right in the middle of the two voices.......you know they both have a great shannon quality......but in different ways. i will say that in the few acoustic things ive seen of ut, to me, chris's vocals sound more true to the album......you know, not mic'd up with effects....just my perception. still would looooooove to hear the melon sessions with him. you cannot tell me that they were not amazing!

I vote for Travis- Shinn has an excellent voice- but I'm with rawness, power and passion over polished rock star-quality. Plus Travis' songwriting is, I believe, more in tune with Melon. After seeing Travis live for probably 10 shows, nothing matches that passion; its one of the main reasons I love them so much, and am praying for the tour soon.

I got to go with Travis on this one, love all the stuff he's done from 00-Metro, RFR, BM, solo stuff etc. Great singer, songwriter and guitarist. While I like Shinn's stuff as well, especially the first UT album, he just doesn't speak to me on as many levels as Travis. Also I love the fact that Travis shares so much of his music with us on a fairly regular basis.

I haven't been on here in a while...
Travis hands down. I never liked UT because I thought Shinn's voice was too whispery and thin. TTW has a naturally powerful voice and can scream in tune like nobody's business.

Add another Mark to Travis' Side. I respect Shinn as a Singer (props to You Shinn), But to Compare Him to Travis...No Thanks. I Have to Go with Travis Hands Down. The Guy Has Done Amazing things with every Band He has Been in, and The Level of Raw Passion He Brings To The Table is Unmatched in My opinion. Also a Great Guy Off The Stage (Not to Say that Shinn isnt, I Just dont Know Shinn), So Maybe My opinion could Be rendered Bias. Still, Thats My Stance. TTW is THE MAN. Would I Like to Hear The recording Shinn did With BM? Yes. Can I Imagine Them Having the Strength That Travis Brought to BM? Not a Chance.

This is an easy choice because Rogers,CT,Brad and Glen picked Travis. Those guys might know something about music and Blind Melon.
Even when the tour was cancelled there were rumors of Chris taking over for the remaining shows. Then was told they didnt have enough time to prepare. "Travis could sing Melon songs in his sleep" quoted by Brad I believe.
Feel Bad for the guy who commented on Travis's myspace saying songs all sound the same. The only thing they all have in common is an acoustic guitar. Other than that the tempos are diff and the lyrics are top notch. Song writers like this only come around once in awhile. Smoking comments cracked me up as well. Would you of asked Shannon to stop smoking to clean up his raspy voice? Tell Travis to quit because its bad for him not because his voice is more raspy. LOL!!
Travis also rocks the guitar.
I like Chris don get me wrong but its like comparing Michael Bolton to Bob Dylan Both are singers but one has the ability to write incredible lyrics that last a life time.
I have been to four shows with Travis and every show Brad or somebody from band will say that with out Travis this would of never happened. That answers the question of this poll.

Shinns voice is def a lot better and more soothing and more Natural def. I call Shinns voice worship voice....It carries you away and takes you places definetly. I like travis voice but its really all over the place and almost not natural but don't get me wrong I still love his works...Shinn was more closer to Hoons voice and vocals are way better than travis!
