I know what he means too. I have had a few very vivid experiences like this as well. Only once did it happen and I was not frightened. The other times I was more like "bring it on.... but take it easy on me..... 'cause I can't see you" #numbchucks-1#
Then I would pull the covers up over my head. #eyes#
perfect story for halloween though! #eek#

That's nuts. I've had experiences where I think I hear people calling my name while sleeping. It creeps me out sometimes. I often think that there's a reason for it. I wonder.

I've also had an experience like that. I posted the story in a comment in Travis' blog if anyone cares to read it.

I did read your story Sonya. It's amazing how "someone" watches out for us while we're sleeping. My sister had a similar experience with my nephew when he was a baby. She said she woke up and saw someone in the doorway of the bedroom. She thought it was my niece until she realized the figure was way too tall. Turns out my nephew had gotten sick in his crib. Weird but strangely comforting.

It's freaky stuff. I always wonder if it's real, or just my mind playing tricks on me.

I've also had an experience like that. I posted the story in a comment in Travis' blog if anyone cares to read it. I loved your story Sonya! Thanks! I never told people about it b/c I thought people would think it was bullshit. When Travis told his story it validated my experience for me. I consider myself a spiritual person, but I am not a religious person. I think in my experience it must have been an angel. It didn't seem ghostly at all. The voice was very real and I could feel it whisper in my ear. It was a female voice and the feeling I had is that it must have been an angel. When my son was a baby there was a lady who claimed she was "a sensitive". When she met my son she got very excited and said "do you know he has two angels with him? Most people only have one. That is so cool.". I never really knew what to think about it b/c I didn't know her well enough to know if she really was able to tap into that kind of stuff. After that voice woke me up when he was sick and in a potentially dangerous situation, I have to wonder...

Weird but strangely comforting. I agree, it is strangely comforting. It made me feel good when it happened, and it makes me feel good to know that it happens to other people too. I am so afraid of ghosts even though I love ghost stories and shows like Ghost Hunters (just ask Greg...he'll tell you how ridiculous I am sometimes at night), but fear did not register with me during my experience. I felt comfortable and like I should trust it.

I remember a year or so after my father died, weird stuff started happening in the house. I remember one day I was downstairs with my mom and it sounded like heavy footsteps walking up and down the hall. It surprising didn't scare me, although I will admit I am generally a coward when it comes to supernatural happenings. I always assume it was dad saying hello. Every now and again there's a little sign. He likes flipping lights on upstairs for some reason. I just laugh and say hello. Maybe I'm nuts....

I don't think you're nuts Karen, and I don't find these stories bullshit. I can relate to what Sonya said: I consider myself a spiritual person, but I am not a religious person. I have my own philosophy (that " has been good to me...") and I don't even take these things like something mystic and surrealistic, it's natural...

I think that we're all sharing space, the living and the dead. I don't think there's a heaven per se. I think we're all living together and we just can't see the other dimension. I think it just happens that sometimes the two intertwine and we can see them when they choose to communicate with us.

I have thought about things that way Karen. I think "Heaven" might be that other dimension that you're talking about. I think some people are sensitive to being able to tap into that other dimension (psychics, mediums, etc.). I believe that when we die our energy passes out of our bodies and into that other dimension, whatever it may be. I think if that energy is strong enough it can manifest in our natural world so non-sensitive people can experience it. It doesn't make sense to me to think of Heaven as some place up in the clouds with the pearly gates and all of that, it makes sense to me that our "eternal life" is our energy that never dies and passes into the other dimension.
Barb, I agree that a lot of things that are viewed as mystic or supernatural are actually natural occurrences, we just haven't figured out the advanced science to be able to prove it yet. Some of our scientific instruments can detect anomalies in energy, but we still don't know how to interpret the data. I think one day we'll be able to prove a lot of these supernatural occurrences.
