Hmmm... Pardon if I misread your post, but why would you want to keep BM a secret? I always try to expose as many people as I can. I understand that there aren't a lot of people who will instantly 'get' BM, but I've been able to make casual fans out of most of my friends.
There are also a few friends who dislike BM because it's always playing in my car and I'm always talking about them. The only way to convert those people is to take them to a show. I have a friend who dislikes BM, but agreed to come see them live. I thought I was finally going to convert him, but halfway through the first song he got kicked out of the show for smoking cigarettes (it was in Lincolnshire, IL). I was so close! From now on, I just tell the haters to go see them live. If they attend a concert and still dislike them afterwards, then I can accept that.
I've had other friends who I dragged along to see them live, and they said that they had a blast. One of my friends (who wasn't even really a fan of them) who I brought to a show said that there is definitely something special about them. He said that it's almost as if there is an aura around them that you can just feel from the audience. I couldn't have said it better myself.
On a side note, for you Ween fans, do any of you ever post on the Ween Forum?

On a side note, for you Ween fans, do any of you ever post on the Ween Forum? I think I can answer the keeping BM a secret part - I THINK anyway but I'd like to take a stab at it: To me, he meant that it was such an intensely personal thing for him - BM was held in such high honor and meant so much to him that it became almost fragile to him and if he shared it with the world and they treated it disrespectfully - it would be unbearable. Like he only shared it w/ those he could trust to treat BM with respect....like you've found something of such emotional value it almost makes you fear for it's safety...make sense? Deep, huh? ha! So how'd I do? Cloudy

That's Deep.I know for myself, most of the time when I open up to people about being a Melon & start talking about Shannon or Blind Melon as one,I am putting my emotions & convictions out there.Something that means so much to us can be tore up brutally right in front of our eyes/ears. That happens. Then You just have to be Cool with it because it doesn't change a thing for the Love that I/We have for this Band.
