Though hardly a review, did anyone else agree that Luckeys really dropped the ball as far as their sound system goes? They really put a damper on such a good show for me- not to mention my poor ear drums which are STILL ringing.

The bass kicked back a couple times but nothing major compared to a couple shows ive been to. But on sunday night it was hell, terriable, i would be surprised if the vigilstock was help there again. There was alot of lack of effrot on their part.

Friday night there was squelching in the left channel somewhere. It sounded like a high pitched whistle coming from Christopher. It left my ears ringing as well. Rogers had some feedback issues and the bass did kick out a couple of times. It's not nearly as bad as it was in Atlanta. The sound there was so blown out that both recordings of the show were totally clipped.
I know he's a bit of a burn out but boy do I miss Mike Maher.

I just want to say that I had a great time. It was my first Vigil. I didn't know what to expect and It was completely not what I expected but in a good way. Friday nights show was amazing of course and I was really tired but emotional and happy at the same time.
Going to Shannon grave was just so overwhelming. I went early to get the initial shock of it over with. I cried my eyes out but they weren't tears of sadness. I just felt so much love for him at that moment and appreciated what he has given to his fans with my whole heart that I couldn't contain it. I came back later for the Vigil and had a great time. So many wonderful Melonheads coming together was an amazing experience. I got to meet so many forum people it was fantastic! I wish I could have spent more time around Nel because her spirit just draws me in. She is an amazing beautiful woman.
I'm so happy.

Well, I can't say it any better than Meredith did - it was amazing. My 1st vigil as well. I got there Friday and went right to Nel's for a ticket and t-shirt, then to visit Shannon. I was overwhelmed as well and reallly lost it. I had to step outside the tent to compose myself. There were just a few other people there but a few were crying as well. Seeing his grave for the 1st time made it so real. I was dreading it in a way as I knew I'd get upset. But it was OK - as Meredith said - it wasn't really saddness.
The concert that night was really wonderful and meeting a few of the guys afterwards was a real treat. They had this incredible poster (actually, too nice to call a poster -more like a print) of this great pond scene w/ Shannon represented in the middle as a frog wearing his trademarke necklace, that Nel now wears. It was great to see a nod to him that way. So I had the 3 I met sign it and Nel as well. Seeing her wear that necklace was really magic for me.
The vigil was so peacfeul - such a feeling of love and caring - everyone was so friendly and helpful and there was a great sense of support and love - and even protection - for Nel. She is just such a special person - to do all this for all of us - the time and expense and emotion she puts into it - just a beautiful soul. I was able to talk to her a bit and her spirit shines through. I asked her about the necklace in a quiet moment and told her that seeing her wear it makes my heart smile. She got tears in her eyes and gave me a hug.
Later that night - when the crowd thinned out - she sat in a chair by Shannon and I knelt right at her feet - we all did - it was like kids around Santa. She began to speak and all the noises of chatting and guitar playing - all stopped - I remember everyone was so silent - I could only hear the candle flames flickering in the wind as she spoke. I had the perfect spot - right near her feet and next to Shannon. All kinds of stories of Shannon - crazy, funny and touching stories and she shared her thoughts and feelings she had about it - it was so powerful - I was in such awe of her.
When it was time for goodbyes she said it was the hardest part - saying goodbye to friends old and new and she hugged us all and began to cry. I miss her already.
Sorry if this is too long! So emotional for me!

cloudly, no post is ever to long. especially talking about nel and the love we all have for one another. i didn't get to meet you personally, but i was also there pretty late listening to her stories. thats always my favorite part of the vigil. late night when most people start to clear out. we all kind of unwind and sit by nel to listen to her stories. and she's such a good story teller. just as shannon was. my daughter zoe was there sitting next to her for hours. i was wondering if she was getting bored, but after we left zoe couldn't stop talking about how much she enjoyed it. how much she loves nel and wants to go back to see her again soon. years ago when i first met nel, it was like id known her forever. she has a way of making you feel like you're family, or her best friend. apparently, shannon had this quality as well. so she took my zoe by her side and they were just fast friends. since then, zoe asks me more and more about shannon and the band. i love it! 360 more days! i cant wait

One of these days I'm going to have to quit being such an old lady and stay really, really late. I left about one o'clock in the morning....right after Nel introduced us Sebbe. I didn't even know that was your daughter sitting next to Nel. I asked her if it was her granddaughter and she said "No, but she should be!" Have you ever known a person with more love to give, it's an endless supply it seems! I met alot more people this year, and altogether my time there was just magical! As far as the sound at the show. They may have had a few difficulties, screeching or whatever, but I could not have cared less. I thought they sounded great! I didn't mind at all waiting the extra two+ hours for the show to start either, I was just loving being with my melon peeps and soaking it all in! Also, I always wear ear plugs, which I know makes me sound old, but you can still hear, it just blocks out all the deafaning decibels that will be having a major effect on your hearing (or lack thereof) in the future. If I don't have ear plugs, I use kleenex or whatever. I can't deal with the ringing. Shannon's sister Anna had some in too btw....

yea zoe told me about thats. its funny because the first year at the vigil i got into some trouble with the police. nothing huge, just a little herb smoking ya know. well i wont go to far into that, it was bad of me to even be doing it. anyway i wont tell that whole story right now. but anyway, as soon as the cops let us go i went straight over to nel and apologized. i told her the whole story and though she did tell me to make sure i dont do that in the cemetery anymore, she was pissed that the cops made such a big deal out of it. she told me to stick close to her the rest of the night. she was very motherly. i remember on the old message board that a few of us used to post on, i was going through a bad time. she called me up just to talk, to make sure i was ok. she's always been very loving and motherly to me and she's made comments in the past about how im her son so for her to finally meet zoe, yea nel may as well be her grandmother! another funny story, in 2004 i stayed until monday and a handful of us went out to lunch monday before leaving to head home. nel, hope, grace and a handful of us melons went. i cant remember how it started but nel started talking about how the two of us were going to get married! LOL and then Hope would have to start calling me grandpa. so all afternoon here's shannon's niece hope calling grandpa.... so funny it meant a lot to me to see zoe and hope getting along so well. grace met zoe and i guess the first thing she said was, "are you sebbe's daughter"? zoe looks a lot like me... ha! poor kid!

Is anyone else having as hard a time coming home as me? something about being with dozens of such amazing people makes it so hard to come back home to "normalcy". why can't it be Vigiltime all the time? i miss you all so much. wish i could live in "knight's innville" all the time. 360 days until Vigil 2009. . . ugh.
