The Underground Mankato MN 9/27/08 1. 2x4 2. I Wonder 3. Soup 4. Paper Scratcher 5. For My Friends 6. Toes Across The Floor 7. Wishing Well 8. Change 9. Time 10. Hypnotize 11. Skinned 12. Soak the Sin 13. No Rain (ripped away) 14. No Rain 15. Galaxie --------------- 16. The Pusher Youtube clips are in the process of being uploaded: www.youtube.com/user/alzeppelinPretty good show overall with just a few negatives. The first being the lame-ass crowd who had to be coaxed into making noise for an encore. The band came on at 10:30 with no opener so it was kind of a late start...PA music gets old after about an hour. ;-) The venue itself was extremely small and reminded me of your average neighborhood bar...just a lot cleaner! There was plenty of room to move around and a nice elevated level all the way around the main floor which was ideal for taping. I shot video and recorded DAT for the whole show and it turned out excellent since I was about 30 feet from CT and had an unobstructed view the whole night. The sound could have been better but having the soundboard on the side of the stage vs. out front makes it a lot tougher for the soundman. Aside from those minor gripes, the band was in amazing spirits for driving all the way from Indiana the night before. Brad has such a great rapport with the audience and as always was extremely into the show. I guess you could say the whole band put out 110% energy (as usual) . I'd like to give the band a big thank you once again for allowing audio and video taping!

They rehearsed "Vernie" again in Mankato but unfortunately didn't play it for the show:
The guy who posted this said they did but I know for a fact they did not since I filmed the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing the video! I hope they play Vernie and Holyman in Traverse City in November. I new tune off of For My Friends would be great too. I thought they were joking the other night that they didn't do Vernie b/c TTW didn't know the words, but you could see him reading off a paper. He sounded good from what I could make out!

I second what you mentioned about the crowd. After seeing the Lafayette show the night before, Mankato felt a bit subdued. I knew we were in trouble when the drunken co-ed behind me asked, "Is this a cover band? Where's Shannon?" I was also concerned Mr. Frat boy's beer was going to end up all over CT's board. I'm still wondering why Mankato of all places and why during homecoming weekend?
Still, I was glad we decided to follow the bus and drive through the night to see this extra show. Wish our gas money would have went a little farther and we could have made it to Winnipeg tonight. Rogers told me after the show they were going to try Vernie in Canada for sure.
The copy of the set list I snagged showed the encore was going to include Walk and end with Pusher. I wonder if they cut it short due to the lame crowd?

That Vernie video makes me with they played it in Indiana, I wonder if the crowd had a bad turn out due to so many people being at the Vigil.

I'd still like to know why they delayed the show for over an hour and a half. I'm used to waiting if there is an opening band which requires changing of gear but all of the bands gear was ready to go when I got there at 8:30. My guess is it was a venue issue but when Brad announced only one more for the encore I was a little suspicious since there is no curfew that I know of. Oh well, it was nice to see them so up close so I can't complain. The guitar tech was a little rude when he acted like I wasn't there when I asked him a simple question. Lighten up buddy! They started late in Indiana too, it was supposed to be 7 but they didn't go on until after 9.

We had to wait for everybody to get into the venue in Indiana...it took forever and we didn't want to start the show until the line was through. In Minnesota, the opening band had issues and couldn't make it. the radio station had been announcing a 10:30 show all day, so people were still coming in there as well. We had to wait, or people would've been pissed had they missed the show. We can't win. Punctuality is normally our strongest suit as a band. rogers

Thanks for clearing that up Rogers. You are right about punctuality being a strong point for you guys since you have always been on time at the other shows I have been too. You gotta love those opening bands who manage to get "issues" the night of the show! Great show and thanks for playing so many dates in the midwest. Living in Northwest Iowa, it is nice drive less than 2 hours to see an excellent band. I'd still like to know why they delayed the show for over an hour and a half. Thanks for clearing up the delays Rogers. It means a lot to know the real reason for them.
