Figured I'd start an official thread since I didn't see one and the show is not too far off. I just booked my flight and am preparing for what will be the greatest birthday weekend, eva! Who else is going to be there? The more melons the better. -Kristen

Awesome Mario! Nicole and I would love to be there but since they will be in Grand Rapids right afterward we figured we would just stick with that show. Our shortest trip to a concert so far has been 3 hours so we are really excited to drive 15 minutes this time! Have a great time at the show! We will definitely see you at the vigil this fall!!

My birthday is Wednesday.....I get to see Blind Melon on Friday and Saturday......33 is not sounding so bad afterall!!! Plus my son will be 7 the following Wednesday.....we are celebrating together at the show Friday night. His birthday party options were a pool party or going to the zoo to see Blind Melon.....he chose Blind Melon.....I must be doing something right!!!

Hey everybody. very excited about this weekend. The zoo and Libertyville all in one weekend. Back to back Melon....It's like a dream come true. If a 3rd show popped up I'd be there too.
Also, I don't know if anyone noticed....but the Zoo says no cameras allowed. Now Blind Melon doesn't care, but the Zoo does. I'm bringing mine.
I do have an extra ticket for Libertyville if anyone has any friends interested. Cost is $16.00. Face value. I had a friend back out. send me a pm and we can make arrangements from there.
see y'all this weekend

I'm going to call the zoo and see if they will let the camera thing slide since Melon doesn't care. Also, has anyone ever seen a show at the zoo? I saw a pick of the stage and while it's a bit high, it looks like there isn't a railing.
Is Melon headlining? I'm a bit confused about that.
I'll report back what the Zoo says about the cameras.

Wish I could make it to this show, but I can't take off work for it. I had to choose between this and Libertyville, and since Austin's Saloon is about 5 minutes from my house, I had to go with Libertyville.
On a side note, do you think the zoo might restrict their setlist, since it's a family environment? (like the song The Pusher, for instance).

I doubt it, I don't think places have control over artists like that anymore. That may be a moral call. Plus "god damn" isn't the worst word in the world.
As long as they get to play the last hour and a half, I don't care what the set list is. They can play Chicago covers all night and I'd sit there and listen to it.

At the three outdoor park performances I was at, I don't think The Pusher was played at all. Possibly in Raleigh. I believe there was a language restriction because of the younger crowd because Travis slipped in Stamford and apologized.
Maybe it's not a restriction so much as a request. ;D

I don't like that word at all and it makes me sad to hear it over and over as I'm listening to my favorite band that I love with all my heart! I also love God with all my heart and because it is offensive to Him, it's offensive to me as well. I doubt this is the popular opinion, but I will be glad not to have my children hear it when I take them to the Rib Fest show...if they don't play it. If they do, it's not like we aren't aware that it's there. My kids are all three Blind Melon fans, just not fans of The Pusher.
