Guys - that was a FREAKING AWESOME show!!
I was right up front, nothing between me and the stage (pretty much in the middle, a little bit to Brad's side).
The crowd was pretty rough. I got slammed into the stage quite a number of times, but I managed to twist into awkward positions so I could still belt out the words and be smushed at the same time. I probably looked pretty ridiculous. Haha!! The Security dudes had a tough night. They were pushing like crazy- not like, holding back, but PUSHING people away. I even got thrown onto the floor by one of those dudes!!
Rye pointed out lots of the exciting things of the show (I'm glad you could make it, by the way!)
I know they played Make A Difference, which you left out of the setlist!
I was super happy with the selection of songs, and the crazy jam sessions and the addition of Sleepyhouse.
One point during the show, one of Glen's cymbals and mic fell off of the platform!! A fast acting stage guy was quick and grabbed them before they smashed onto the floor. Good save!
The highlight of the night for me was during Hypnotized. I had my hands in the air and Travis grabbed my hand, and sang a little part of the song while looking at me straight in the eyes. I though I was going to fall on the floor and DIE after that. I probably had a pretty stupid look on my face when that happend too. Haha! Oh, and I also got a pick from Travis and Brad!
After the show the guys stuck around to sign stuff, talk and pictures and stuff. Travis had to leave early so I missed out on him again!! Next time.
Oh, and funny thing: at the beginning of Change, lots of people were still being stupid and kinda fighting so I turned around and yelled, "STOP FIGHTING! THEY'RE PLAYING CHANGE!!"
I'll have a few pictures and maybe some shitty quality videos to post soon!!
freaking awesome is an understatement carolyn, i was still on a natural high this morning on those 3 hours's sleep or whatever
haha, yeah i figured i missed a song or two 'cause i was going off the top of my head. i also was trying to get into it and keep it together for the first few songs though at least i did get to go home and change first otherwise i'd of felt more awkward
and yeah security was a bit challenged. i saw at least three guys get the toss, one guy wasn't being too friendly on the way by kinda throwing an elbow my way. that ain't the melon way and i ain't a fighter but it was tempting to pop him, but his elbow missed and security had him so what the hey no harm no foul.
also at one point, when it looked a bit rough right up there travis kinda scolded the crowd and said 'hey fellas watch the ladies up here'
very cool to get the guys to sign my shirt. the line moved slow and people being people i was maybe third/fourth/fifth in line right after the show and there was no shortage of clowns trying to elbow their way in front. i stood my ground and just kept wedging this one guy back without saying anything; fair is fair i was there first so you go behind. some guy shoved the girl right in front of me but security was nice enough to show him the door which was so handily close
first up was brad. as i said the line moved slow so while waiting i said happy birthday man. thanks. i was close enough so i said 'hey brad looks like you got blisters on your fingers'. yeah, i should play all mellow but i get up there and start playing all heavy boom boom starts laughing. someone else tells him that's dedication.
then after what seemed forever but was probably five minutes, onto glen. i told him 'awesome show, you guys are a tight rhythm section you must be soul brothers' they laughed and said yeah. some guy kinda butts in front of me and starts quizzing glen if his drum kit is still up on ebay. 'no, it's sold' hopefully it keeps together when i ship it in two weeks
then a quick hello with travis. 'great great show man' 'thanks so you enjoyed it?' 'flickin rights' - i'm honest and was totally pumped. then security was getting travis out of there because maybe ten or more minutes had gone by.
then a really brief hello with ct, who was just beaming smiles enjoying himself.
then a quick chat with rogers, i asked him about catching a coupla bubbles during no rain and he said he still had the taste in his mouth. he asked if i enjoyed the show and again 'flickin rights'
carolyn good you made it too, nice picture too by the way
i take it you made it home safe. hopefully no bruises from the show, i couldn't even see exactly who was right up front because it was so packed and there was some action here and there. peace out
