Today Greg got stuck working about 2.5 hours away from us which sucks, but he was able to visit a cool independent music store and picked up a few goodies on vinyl. Here's what he got: Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Iron and Wine & Calexico - In the Reins The Allman Brothers - Eat A Peach We also have these coming in the mail any day now: The Wood Brothers - Loaded Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith Elliott Smith - Either/Or Iron and Wine - The Creek Drank The Cradle Iron and Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead Grateful Dead - Live Dead Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes Medeski Martin & Wood - Best of the Blue Note Years All of that should keep us busy for a LONG time. I'll post a list of what we already have later. We don't have much but it's coming along nicely. I can't wait until our shipment arrives. I would love to hear how the Elliott Smith sounds on vinyl. Let us know when you get it. Peace.

The Elliott Smith sounds AMAZING on vinyl! Better than I ever imagined! I highly recommend buying both "Either/Or" and the self titled release on vinyl. The self titled is a nice super heavy weight. I'll be buying "XO" next.

Jawa! That's the spirit! Yes, your vinyl is sad. It misses you and diamonds.
And I agree with Sonya. I got those 2 Elliott Smith albums on vinyl a few years ago and they do sound fantastic. If I remember correctly, Kill Rock Stars put that out. Usually that's a real good company for vinyl but recently, such as The Decemberists vinyl, the quality seems to be slipping a bit. They sound great but all of them have off center spindle holes. That bugs the piss out of me.

Looking for a GREAT sounding, perfectly mastered album on vinyl? Get the new Steve Winwood, Nine Lives. He's really in a Traffic mode on this album. Very groovy. Plus, it just sounds amazing. Ohhhhh do I wish I was saying that about For My Friends on vinyl. I know I will be someday though.

He also bought me a picture disc of Tori Amos' "To Venus And Back" but I figured y'all would be more excited to hear about "Soup". Over the weekend we also made some more vinyl purchases... Elliott Smith - XO Elliott Smith - New Moon Tool - Lateralus (f'n awesome collector's edition with 2 picture discs) The Warlocks - I can't remember the album name for the life of me...sorry!

I think he won an ebay auction for the Soup vinyl, I'm not positive about that though. You can probably find it for sale at www.gemm.com but the ones I've seen there have been pretty expensive.

Here are some listings at GEMMI lucked out and won an ebay auction for a brand new, still sealed copy of Soup....and was even luckier that the vinyl was in perfect condition and not warped. I did not pay as much obtaining it thru ebay as I would have if I had obtained it thru gemm. so the best advice I can give to keep from having to pay $200+ is to stalk ebay and bid to win

That's how I did it. Checked everyday and waited until 30 seconds left and won it!
