I LOVE my vinyl. I listen to it regularly. I have quite a few lps including the ST and Soup albums. Some kick- ass Beatles on colored vinyl and others. Alot I got from my Dad. Those lps are the reason I love the Doors, Janis, the Beatles, and other influential artists. We have a great little record shop here that if they don't have something, they can order it. Works out nicely.

Today Greg got stuck working about 2.5 hours away from us which sucks, but he was able to visit a cool independent music store and picked up a few goodies on vinyl. Here's what he got: Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Iron and Wine & Calexico - In the Reins The Allman Brothers - Eat A Peach We also have these coming in the mail any day now: The Wood Brothers - Loaded Elliott Smith - Elliott Smith Elliott Smith - Either/Or Iron and Wine - The Creek Drank The Cradle Iron and Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead Grateful Dead - Live Dead Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes Medeski Martin & Wood - Best of the Blue Note Years All of that should keep us busy for a LONG time. I'll post a list of what we already have later. We don't have much but it's coming along nicely. I can't wait until our shipment arrives.

Ok, as promised here's a complete list of our vinyl collection (not including the 9 LP's that we've ordered but haven't received yet). We actually had more than I realized. Some of it's good, some of it is not-so-good but it's like breaking into a time capsule which is always interesting and fun. ;D LP'sPink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon Woodstock Soundtrack (from the original Woodstock) Janis Joplin - Joplin in Concert (from Gabby) Janis Joplin - Greatest Hits (from Gabby) Big Brother & the Holding Company - Self Titled (from Gabby) Big Brother & the Holding Company - Cheap Thrills (from Gabby) The Doors - Absolutely Live (from Gabby) The Allman Brothers - Eat A Peach New Riders of the Purple Sage - Gypsy Cowboy Iron & Wine - The Sea & the Rhythm Iron & Wine with Calexico - In The Reins Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Saturday Night Fever - Original Movie Soundtrack (a cheesy guilty pleasure) SinglesBeck - "Where It's At" & Remixes (12" single) Beck - "The New Pollution" (12" single) Beck - "Devil's Haircut" (12" single) Luscious Jackson - "Naked Eye" (12" single) Deee-Lite - "Bring Me Your Love" (12" single) Deee-Lite - "Picnic in the Summertime" (12" single) Deee-Lite - "Party Happening People" (12" single - Test Press) Keoki - "Caterpillar" (12" single) Reel Big Fish/Goldfinger - "Take On Me"/"Superman" single 33rpm Believe it or not, I used to be a raver back in the day, so all of that Deee-Lite stuff and the Keoki is from my hard-partying rave days when I dreamed to be the best female DJ on the East Coast. I haven't listened to that stuff yet since Greg and I bought the record player, but it should bring back a lot of memories when I put it on for the first time in over 10 years.

You got some great LPs! I have a great little store here and I run into the same problem of too many albums, not enough money. I am currentl looking for Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced", "Axis: Bold As Love", and "Electric Lady Land". He is the only one of my favorites that I don't have on vinyl. So, if any of you have one of those you wish to give me, I will gladly give it a good home! LOL ;D

I went to see if there was a thread for For My Friends on vinyl. Nope. Not yet. But, I found this one. Great idea. I am a vinyl junkie. Wanna see a list? It's about 2000 albums. buzzcat.net/vinyl/albums22.pdfThat catalog doesn't include all the classical albums I have. There's about 200 of those. Here's a couple pics of my studio. buzzcat.net/studio2.html You'll see my beauty turntable there. It's a VPI Scout with a Audio Technica AT150 cartridge. It sounds fucking amazing! It had better for almost 2000 bucks. (Wow are those pics of the studio outdated.) Ain't nothin' in the world like putting one of your favorite albums on and letting it spin.
