Hey guys, I've added a news article on www.blindmelontribute.com in regards to the Chicago show. I've also included 2 mp3s (of both Nico tracks) from the live file that was uploaded earlier. I've bumped & EQ'ed the sound a little bit too. Check it out!

Thanks for the tracks Ryan. Would you consider turning them into FLAC or SHN and putting them up on Dime or Traders Den? They would be easier to share, plus that would have the added bonus of reaching out to fans and fans-to-be who don't realize all that's going on now. Plus putting them there may help flush out other old and new shows into the trading pool.
PS - has anyone heard or read Nico talk about her performance? I'd love to hear her perspective of that magic moment.

Thanks Ryan for splitting that up.
I have a question for you audiophiles out there: This show was recorded directly to a wav format which I converted to the mp3. Now that Ryan converted back to wav did we lose anything quality wise?
If one of you audiophiles wants me to send you the original wav for you to tweak (split, adjust the volume) let me know. I want to get the best possible version of this show out there.

Yea, there was a little loss in that.
I can edit your wav file for you... EQ it, adjust the volume, split the songs....etc..

The show you have in .wav is the best quality available. When it was compressed to .mp3 some of the quality was lost. Ryan's .wav's preserve the quality of the .mp3 you uploaded, but it still technically isn't as good of quality as your initial .wav of the show. I would be interested in having a copy of the original .wav just for quality purposes. My computer is maxed out on drive space right now so once I clear some things up I'd love to get the .wav from you somehow. You f'n rock for taping this and sharing it so quickly!!! ;D

Tonight I will upload the original wav and post it here. I used an mp3 player/recorder and the wav file is a different tpe than normal, that is why I converted it to mp3 even though i knew we'd lose a little quality. I know MarkE will also be uploading a recording of this show, I don't know which will be better quality but it would be nice to differentiate between recordings of the same show. Any of you trader's know how this is typically handled in trading communities?
Matt, After you work your magic maybe you could post it in the All that I Need area.
Sonya, I am happy I was able to share with everyone. This was an amazing show and there was no way I could go to sleep before I got this out there for people to wake up to, luckily i didn't have to work the following day.
To everyone else: My recording was made using a SONY ECM mic that you can purchase for about $60 plugged right into my mp3 player. I set the mic up at the soundboard and was able to enjoy the show without worrying about it. I would love to see more people try to get recordings of all their shows. If it were possible I would go to every show but having a recording is the next best thing. You never know what event (like Nico singing) will pop up so we need to be ready.

Wow, I didn't know you could get a decent recording for such a small investment...Greg and I have been talking about getting some type of equipment to record shows but we didn't want to invest hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars into it. Good to know! ;D

Yes, it really does not require a huge investment to get decent recordings. This is the mic I used: reviews.cnet.com/microphones/sony-ecm-717/4507-6469_7-20038201.htmlIt just take this mic, a recoding device with mic input or line in input, and a place to put it where crowd noise won't be to much of a distraction. I used this same set-up to record Unified Theory at the Double Door in 2000. Unfortuantely there was a garbage bin near the sound board and you hear the clinking of glass bottles through the whole show .

Ryan, thank you so much for separating the songs!
Tumblin' Down doesn't work for me, how can I make it work? I suppose it's a link problem.

Hello everyone, yes, we did lose something from that mp3 when I converted it to WAV, but at that time, there had been no other source file available for me to use. I won't compress this to FLAC or SHN, because that would give the impression that these are lossless files. But they are not. I know how to split tracks and can assist with that, but I don't know how to EQ, so Matt might be a better person to split the original files. But Matt, if you want me to split, and you EQ the files, then that's fine too. Just let me know. Barbara, I altered the link for Tumblin' Down. I just took out the apostrophe, and then the link worked. greenmidget.net/audio/10-16-2007_Double_Door/13_Tumblin_Down.wav
