Here's how it works: I have a box full of goodies (related and non-related to Blind Melon) that I will be sending someone. Once this person receives the box, they will take out whatever items they like and put in the same number of new items. They will then mail the box to the next person on the list and so on til the last person mails it back to me I think this will be a good way for us to give each other gifts without really spending a lot of money. I recommend giving out your own belongings or even making things instead of buying them, but of course feel free to do as you wish. 90% of the things I put in the box were things that either I had extra copies of (such as a spare copy of relix magazine ft. Blind Melon), or things I love but want to share with other people (like my copy of the book "The Alchemist") or even random things I just dont use anymore (scarf, hat). Anyway, I brought up the subject on our last Yahoo conference and Sonya was the first to show some interest so I'm mailing it to her and Greg first. Barb also wanted to participate, so I guess we could organize it to where once the box gets shipped out to Europe it goes through all the overseas melon's houses before returning to America, it would probably be way cheaper for everyone. Remember, this is a box so the cost might be a little high to mail. Please remember to check your finances before you get the box so it won't be stuck anywhere. I'll let you guys know how much I paid to ship to Sonya so you can have an idea but keep in mind the weight will vary as different items get thrown in there. Hmm, what else? I guess try to have the items ready before you get the box so we can get it to everyone quick and enjoy!! So who wants to participate? Any questions? PS: ALWAYS come back to this thread and post when you receive the box and when you ship it to the next person so we dont lose track of it Perhaps a cheaper way these days would be to use the Priority Flat Rate boxes for those in the US. (if this were started up again). Like the commercial says, "No Weigh!". If it fits, it ships. www.usps.com/prices/priority-mail-prices.htm

Can we get an update on the mailing list and location of this 2nd box as well since box #1 is likely still with Elva according to this thread? Where do we all stand and where is the last box? Thanks for any info...

Guys, I still have swapbox #2 and I am so sorry it's been so long! I just got busy/distracted/forgot all about it. I do plan on starting this back up but it won't be for another couple of weeks probably because I have no days off coming up before I leave for Bonnaroo (YAY!) so it'll have to wait until I get back (hopefully I can pick up some cool stuff there). I was thinking though, should we start another thread and with it another list? A lot of the people on the list never get on the forum anymore or deleted their accounts altogether. It would just take too long to try to contact whoever is next in line and wait for a response of whether they are still interested and to get an address. What do you all think?

That sounds like a very good idea, Gabby. As much as I'd like to participate though, I won't be able to, as last time I had the swapbox the shipping costs from the UK were very high

Ok so once I am back from the roo I will start another thread and we can go from there. Awww Lee, I would say don't worry about it, we'll all pitch in but that hasn't worked very well in the past Maybe if we started an European swapbox? I'm not sure there are enough European melons willing to participate but it would be something to think about!

I have no clue if I'm still on this list but I'll be more than happy to contribute something!
Lee, does the UK have those flat-rate shipping boxes like they've started here in the uS? I think if we all chip in, like Gabby said that it won't be a problem this time!

Just make sure we use atleast the Medium sized flat rate box. Anything smaller and it doesn't come with a tracking service and is lost easily.
