I havent gone yet, I just found out about this a couple days ago.. But I can't wait! I would love to surf someones couch in the very near future.. I think it's a wonderful way to visit places and really get to experience the culture... Plus there's nothing like making friends all over the world... You just gotta be careful of who you surf with I guess..
What about you Gelf, would you be willing to couch surf?

For some reason It weirds me out, even family. Even at my very first sleep over as a kid I went home about 11pm. Something about not being comfortable unless its my own space. I would definately go for a cup of tea or to visit new people, I probably couldn't sleep over.

I can say I'm completely in contrary, maybe also cause since I was very little, I often slept over at my aunt's house or other family memebers' houses, later friends'... I never had problem with that, unless if it lasted too long...then it really becomes annoying cause I miss my own space...

i'm kinda 50/50 i had no problem sleeping over at places until i got like 16 or 17. Just waking up hungover at someone else's place sucks. Even when it's 3am and i'm at a party or at a friends getting wasted, i'll call a cab. hehe now i'm gonna ramble....has anyone ever stayed at a bed and breakfast? they're so weird i used to go with a friend on his family trips and they would stay in bed and breakfast places...in our room at one of the places we stayed out had like this jungle theme, it was so weird there was like cheetah skinned carpets and zebra curtains and like an amazon shower curtain with birds on it. even the toilet cover had this weird animal shit on it. and then waking up in the morning and having this complete stranger make you breakfast while you're sitting in her living room...... ANYWAYS...the couchsurfing doesn't sound like a bad deal. i volunteer Gabbe to try it out first and tell us what it's like ;D

I think there's no things like that in Europe (I mean that "bed and breakfast"). The first and only time I heard about it was when there was a boy band called like this, haha

ANYWAYS...the couchsurfing doesn't sound like a bad deal. i volunteer Gabbe to try it out first and tell us what it's like ;D hahaha thanks! You know I think I must be really fucking naive cause I think it's SUCH an awesome thing to do but everyone I tell about this always asks "well, how would you know if the person you're staying with isn't a psycho?". I always look at people's profiles and read all their testimonials (or whatever they call it) and think "Man, this guy is a badass, I'd love to stay with him!" Guess I trust the things I read too much, but heck if a person has dozens of people from all over the world vouching for them how can it not be true? Unless they went through the trouble of creating dozens of accounts and uploading hundreds of different pictures for each and making up all these different characters... I dont see how it couldn't be true! I think my only fear is not getting ALONG with the person and then getting kicked out of their house in a completely unfamiliar place or something... All I know is of course I wont be able to do this in awhile, all my pennies are going towards my move, but once I get settled you bet I'll be traveling the world surfing a bunch of people's couches! YAY!

heh heh..
My grandparents actually do a bed and breakfast. Before they recently moved, they lived in a house with 4 bedrooms.. now they live in a smaller house, but still do it.
