I love silverchair, Daniel Johns is such a talent. Diorama hasn't left my car since I passed my test (in February). How can he get any better than that? Only their new album shall tell. Anyone else like them?
Oh & anyone heard the Dissociatives? It's Daniel's side project since Diorama, they are so good, wierd, but good.

Hey Azrael,
Have you heard their earlier stuff... Like Tomorrow, Freak, Pure Massacre, Emotion Sickness, The Door, Cemetery, Anthem of the Year 2000, Miss You Love, Ana's Song, Israels Son, Stoned, Shade, Abuse Me, etc...
I prefer their earlier stuff to Diorama, but still, Diorama is still one of the best freakin albums ive ever heard. Favourite song off the album is a tie between Without You and Tuna In A Brine...
As for The Dissociatives... they are awesome too... I got their album the day it was released in Australia, and have listened to it so many times, but havent heard it for a while... I must listen to it today... Favourite tracks are Forever And A Day, and We're Much Preferred Customers...
"All of this time on my hands, so far has gone to feeding my animals" - Horror With Eyeballs, brilliant, lol

Oh Silverchair used to be one of my favorite bands back when I lived in Brazil.. Daniel was my celebrity crush, I was in looooove with him when I was 14 or so. But then they came out with Neon Ballroom.. God I HATED that album... I was soooooo very disappointed with it that I didnt even give them a chance anymore, so I havent heard Diorama. I've never heard of The Dissociatives though, are they anything like Silverchair?

Are you for real Gabbee...
Neon Ballroom is probably their best album!!!
1 EMOTION SICKNESS 2 ANTHEM FOR THE YEAR 2000 3 ANA'S SONG (OPEN FIRE) 4 SPAWN AGAIN 5 MISS YOU LOVE 6 DEAREST HELPLESS 7 DO YOU FEEL THE SAME 8 BLACK TANGLED HEART 9 POINT OF VIEW 10 SATIN SHEETS 11 PAINT PASTEL PRINCESS 12 STEAM WILL RISE
Not one of these songs is good... Every single one of these songs are FANTASTIC!!! Ana's Song is probably the best song they ever wrote...

Diorama is their best album dammit!!!
Yeah I've heard their earlier stuff, I have all their cds, they are good but Diorama is just so original & mind boggling, the lyrics & melodies are some of the best I've ever heard. Across The Night & Tuna In The Brine are my favourites, but I do love Emotion Sickness, Ana's Song etc.
They were good at the whole grunge thing but now they've moved into their own genre effectively they've really shown their talent.

Oh & The Dissociatives are quite different, they have the melodies of Diorama but with pop & techno music behind them, but not crappy pop & techno like most, there's just something good about it, 'tis hard to explain. If you like silverchair's earlier stuff I'd say it's not going to be your thing but it's worth checking ouit because it's great stuff if you like listening to it or not.

As i said, Diorama is a great album, but it is not in the league of their previous stuff (pre-2000)... Diorama was a departure from the real Silverchair of the 90's which made them internationally known... Diorama is not that rock at all, it is more pop, i hate to admit it. The only thing that Diorama doesnt have, which their earlier stuff has, is a dark side. I use Diorama to chill out to, rather than rocking to.
Also, the Dissociatives is pretty much crappy techno music, for example the instrumentals "PARIS CIRCA 2007SLASH08" & "LIFTING THE VEIL FROM THE BRAILLE", but Daniel Johns' awesome voice makes the rest of the songs fantastic... The Dissociatives was really a studio project, because their live performances really sound awful, with the exception of Dan's voice...

A few years ago one of my best friends lived in Australia. He'd call me all the time with different music, and one of them was a little known band called Silverchair, that he said won a radio station contest to record a song or something like that. He sent me an Ep of theirs, there's a tune on it called "Stoned" that is just awesome.

the new album is out on 6th of December to coincide with their appearance at the Homebake festival in Sydney
I've heard loadsa new songs off it & they are good, but very different
If You Keep Losing Sleep is very good, I heard it performed by the Dissociatives & I really love it
very experimental, but I think they pull it off more rock-based than Diorama aswel
