well, i tried to do it without WIKI... and i couldnt think of any more. so went to wiki and i still only see him credited with 3 Pearl Jam albums (which includes the PEARL JAM albums that are compilations). but if you include the other two compilations that he has a song on with pearl jam.... then it would be 5. i was centering on the wording of the original question "pearl jam albums"

Who was the first musical guest to record their performance for SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ahead of time... and why? Is this a trick question? That would depend if you are referring to seasons when the show was called "Saturday Night Live" or in the earlier years when it was only "Saturday Night" That would be 2 different answers.

hmm.. i didnt intend for it to be a trick question. i'd always been told one answer (the one i intended) and the resoning behind it... ...
the only other thing i can think of that you are referring to is that a certain group lip synced their performance live prior to that.
---- ** upon doing some date checking... on "saturday night live" sites... at the point in time that BOTH of the above performances took place, it was indeed called "SATURDAY NIGHT". i'll always call it SNL. lol.

OK, well I'm gonna guess Carly Simon. Not sure but I think the reason is because she was so nervous. Mick Jagger was supposed to be part of the act, but couldn't do it.
Hope this is the one you were thinking about!

yep.... sorry about the confusion.
Carly simon pre-corded "you're so vain" because she was nervous about doing it. that was May of 1976.
ABBA lipsynced their live performance in 1975.
you're up.

I think she suffered from stage fright.
That's kinda funny, Twiz that you said Abba, cause the other one I had in mind was Ashley Simpson! Hahaha. You took her out when you said both incidents were when it was just "Saturday Night" You guys are too good, I'll have to think of something that isn't too easy; I hope.

Carly was nervous? Wow! She's killer! I wonder why she was so nervous.. I am actually reading a book called Girls Like Us by Sheila Weller all about Carly Simon, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell and it says that Carly always had stage fright. Apparently before this particular performance it was really bad and she almost passed out. She never sounded scared though, truely a professional.

What Bad Company song did Mick Ralphs former band, Mott The Hoople, refuse to play?

Correct! Mick wrote the song while with Mott The Hoople, but they wouldn't play it because it wasn't their style. Paul Rogers of Bad Co. knew it was a hit and said he would sing it.
