;D Damn I missed everyone! My dad flew up from Kansas City and we had him here for his birthday and the fourth of July, I took him to all the major sites in DC and Baltimore. He is extremely patriotic and a vietnam vet so seeing the memorials and everything was very special to him! He just left this morning and I think he had a great time... in front of the white house!!!

Glad you're back! My hubby's dad is a Vietnam Vet also. Once my hubby went to the wall with him and he said his dad cried like a baby. He lost a lot of good friends in Vietnam. That's awesome that you took him there. I bet D.C. was pretty crowded because of the holiday.

Glad you're back and had a great vacation and you got to spend some time with your dad and take him places. You sound like you really love him. I lost mine in Aug '95 and I don't know what I'd give to have him back for just 1 day. I'm not spending much time at home now that summer is here. I'm spending a lot of time at camp just enjoying friends, family and nature.
Both you and sonyagirl's fathers deserve a big hug for surviving Vietnam so here's one from Canada. #bearhug#

aww thanks ishbell!!! I lost my Dad for about 11 years so we really make up for lost time, I am sad to live so far away.
My Dad looked up some of his buddys on the wall and made rubbings of their names, he was so sad, but so happy to finally see the wall. He still doesn't talk about it and I dont make the mistake of asking anymore, I asked once and he changed the subject pretty fast. I know he was a helicopter pilot and that's about it.
My dad is a really great guy. We treated him to seafood dinners and really just treated him like a king while he was here, its nice to be able to do stuff like that for your parents.
DC was extremely crowded, we managed to see "Old Glory" most of the memorials, and even the hope diamond!
