I've heard nothing but great things about Nel. I've never met her - but I love her already.

Nel is such a sweetheart!!! My girlfriend and I had the privilege to meet her in Illinois in the fall. What a great lady!!! I ordered two bracelets from her and was even able to talk to her on the phone for quite awhile. It was so exciting. I hope to see her in Detroit or hopefully I plan on going to the vigil this year!!!

Well I look forward to meeting alot of folks from this forum so please, anyone who is going as a newbie, A) PLEASE don't be shy, B) take lots of pics to really remember your 1st experience and last but not least C) you are the "bee girl", you're at the rose-strewn gates, inside are your kin, push open the gates and come inside...you're finally home! It's ironic, isn't it? (Sorry Shannon, I know you hated her but damn it, that video is just...eerie!)

Sounds like alot of good people gather at Shannon's vigil but don't know if I'll ever be one of them, because Indiana is a good long haul from Florida and my wife and I are always too busy to take any major trips. And besides that she is not a Blind Melon fan and would not understand my desire to travel all that way to attend.

I'm lucky enough to have a husband who thinks I'm nuts but understands my need to be there. I have friends I only see there once a year and that weekend is important to me.

I don't think people understand the bonds that we have formed with each other. I have never been to the vigil (this year will be my first) but the friendships I have formed here are priceless. I tell people that I'm roadtripping with a bunch of people that I met here and they think that I'm crazy! Most of us are sane and considerate, so it works out well.

Actually I had the pleasure of meeting Brent a few years ago when he attended a vigil and sang at Vigilstock. He has an amazing voice and he, along with his then band, Speakermind, wrote a beautiful song called "Thank You Nel Hoon" which can be heard on her Myspace profile page. She has truly touched many lives, mine included!

Well you guys think of me at these vigils, because I doubt I will ever be able to go unless I happen to be in Indiana at the time which might be a loooong time from now. I do have a brother there in Linton Indiana but I cannot stand him or his wife and we haven't talked in years(because he's basically a butthole).

I just think Nel is so incredible. It still amazes me how welcoming she is with fans of Shannon. She's taken an event that is so tragic and turned it into a life-enriching experience. It takes such a strong person to do that.

Shannon is smiling down on us. He loved his mom so much and she is deserving of all the love she receives. I spoke to her for a long time on the phone before the vigil and she is just a really strong & loving woman. I just loved to see the big hug she gave Travis at the Chicago show, it was beeautiful. If it weren't for the great people running this forum all of this wouldn't have been possible so love you guys. For all the forum members, veterans or newbies you are what makes the Blind Melon family special and unique #smileyhug# and I'm proud to be part of it. That's all for now g'nite

This will be my first vigil, and I know I will be unable to speak to Nel, she seems like such a sweetheart, but I am going to be so nervous around her, and being my first vigil, I may be on sensory overload as it is....
