I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I've been to the US twice in my life, when I was 4, & when I was 8. I want to go this year, I've been savin' up, but I honestly have NO idea where to go, how to get there, where to stay, etc.
I need all of the information I can get on this so it's possible for me to attend this years vigil!
Help!

Marilyn, first of all, welcome to the forum!!!! Looking forward to meeting you at the vigil this year ;D The vigil is held on the Saturday closest to Shannon's birthday (Sept 26), but people start arriving early in the week. The cemetary is in Dayton but there are no hotels there so we stay in Lafayette, which is a 5 minute drive, really. Most melonheads stay at the Knights Inn, not only is that the cheapest hotel around, they're also rather melonhead-friendly If you're thinking about flying the closest airport would be Indianapolis (about 45 min to an hour drive) but Chicago O'hare is not too far either. You could also take a bus to West Lafayette and either get a cab or arrange to be picked up by someone (it is NOT within walking distance). Also, there is a tribute concert (aka Vigilstock) thats held the Sunday after the vigil, I highly recommend staying for that. Check out blindmelon.org, under "Remembering Shannon" they have A LOT of information about the vigil. If you have any more questions or need any help at all planning your trip just let me know!!! ;D

Okay, cool. I actually was going to fly down, but I think it'd be in my best interest to drive. Though, I will more than likely get lost like 36 times. That was awesome information though, thanks for the help!

Marilyn- welcome to the forum!! I am also driving from Massachusetts, so if you could get here, we could carpool if you want...my car will make the trip fine and it's 17 hours from here so I'd love some company. That, by the way, is an open invute to any melons on my route from Mass to Indy (to be announced) So come on melonheads, help a girl out!! I don't wanna drive all the way alone(but I will if I have to...)
