can we tape something when we get drunk?? You HAVE to tape something when you're drunk, especially you Ap! Make us smile again please. What a day...it started so good, I got in a good mood cause my hopes to make it to the vigil this year got higher when I found out I don't need to hurry to find another place to stay which is great cause I don't have to pay the rent right now, only expenses like electricity and stuff (I know people who own the appartment, great people!). It was so refreshing to feel so good cause I've been a bit confused lately. Then a friend put me in a bad mood cause he was really annoying. Pffffft. Then in the evening when I started thinking about the whole vigil thing again, I told my parents I want to go to the states since I don't need to worry about the rent expenses for now. My dad thinks I shouldn't ask my boss for vacation cause I just started this new job two weeks ago and it's not serious to do that, especially now that I finally got a really good job (I'm aware he's kinda right but I thought I'd try and ask and let the boss know that if he doesn't agree I'd understand). Not to mention what can I say to my dad when he asked me why I want to go. I rather didn't even tell him that I'd sit by Blind Melon's singer's grave...I just said I'd meet all melonheads I'm talking to online since so long. That was enough for him to tell me that I'm not 18 y.o. anymore, to be so fanatic about a band... It didn't make sense to try to tell him why this music means so much to me... My mom understands a bit more my love for Blind Melon and why I feel so much I want to be there cause she's totaly into yoga and Swami (the "leader", guru of yoga) and she knows how some people just can't understand this kind of stuff and she also understands more how it is like when you FEEL like you NEED&WANT to do something. But she agrees with dad that it's weird and not really right to ask for vacation after like two weeks of working at a new job. Although I'd ask just for one week or so. Of course it's not like I can't do something because my parents don't agree with it, I'm grown up (or am I?) but all this brought me down, especially my dad's not understanding attitude (I can't blame him though, who understands melonheads when it comes to the vigil anyway?! except for melonheads and, if we're lucky, a few friends). But I thought he did have more understanding for it cause I already talked about it. And when I said that it's important that I get vacation so soon because this is happening at that moment my mom said "but it's happening next year too, right?" As if she'd mean "hey, it's happening again one month later" yeah right, it's a WHOLE ONE YEAR dammit! Anyway, it brings me down...and now I'm not sure if it's right to ask for vacation. I also get these ups and downs...at one moment I feel like I NEED&WANT to be there and in another moment I'm thinking oh well, it's not such a big deal, I'll go next year... Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffff. Sorry for a long rent, I needed to get it out in a place where people understand.

LOL! Thanks for the love Brandy We always think we have time.I'll do it next year yeah but what if next year dosen't work out either ???Live for the moment live for now tomorrow is never certain that's what I think too, you never know what will happen so live for the moment! If my boss would say no I wouldn't go for sure, I really want to keep this job. But do you think it's ok even to ask him? I've been working here since only two weeks now...my boss is ok, people are cool at work but then again I don't know them that much and I'm not sure how things go and how bad is it if I ask...I don't want to give them a bad impression right from the start...

I don't think its ever bad to ask~ You can tell him you have had these plans for a while and would like to keep them if it's ok with him. This was planned way before you started this job.Although if he feels you are too important and unreplaceable you will understand~And I'm sure your raise will reflect this~Well I would leave the last part out but you get the idea~Barb should I write you a note?

LOL yeah, maybe you should write a note telling him that if he doesn't let me go to the vigil the Shmoo will come and get him. Although if he feels you are too important and unreplaceable you will understand~ haha, I like this part I guess what makes it a bit better (for them and for me asking) is that I have the kind of contract with which I don't even get a paid vacation so it's not like they are in a (financial) "loss" because of it but the bad thing is that the newspaper I'm working for (well I work for another one too, it's the same company, it's a bit complicated) will actualy lounch just around the vigil time and I'm the only photographer working for them in that area so that sucks. It's like the BIG project they're preparing on and for which they took me will really start just at about the same time as I want to have vacation...bahhhhhhhhh. too much too much too much. lemonade.

Ohh, and I have a question. Is there anyone going by car from New York to Lafayette? Is it cheaper to drive and split the costs by two than taking a plane? In Europe it usualy isn't but I heard the gas is cheap in the states.
Also, can anyone recommend a cheap (cheaper, cheapest!) website for flights inside U.S.A.? Even if I can't book them from here, just to see how cheap I could get a ticket (hopefuly they won't be all sold out by the time I get there).
And...anyone driving from Indianapolis to Lafayette?
It's not like I decided I'm going, I just need to know how cheap I could get through cause getting a vaction is not the only problem.

It`s going to be so embarrasing.. Damn you April for bringing this up!!! ;D Ohh, and I have a question. Is there anyone going by car from New York to Lafayette? It would be cheaper and alot of fun to ride there with Melons.. The gas is alot cheaper in The States than here in Europe. I didn`t think of asking folks here if they know any website where to find cheap flights.. Good thinking Barb! #thumb# I haven`t even thought of the possibility of the NY - Indiana flight being sold out.. That`s something we can`t risk.. Imagine going to the airport in NY and not getting a ticket.. Stuck in NY while everybody else is partying in Lafayette... Scary thought!!

Barb, I know what you mean about not asking your new boss for vacations. I was kinda in the same spot about a month ago, I wanted to know for sure that I could come and start planning but had only been at my new job for a month. I told her that every year I get together with friends that live far (Im a nanny, Im not sure she'd want me looking after her kids if she knew about the vigil - some people just dont get it!) and we always do it in September and gave her some options of making up my hours the days prior to my trip. She was so cool with it Barb, told me not to worry and even thanked me for letting her know so soon in advance! With that in mind I say, give it a shot. As long as you let him know that it's ok if he cant give you those days off then I dont think it's risky at all. Gas here is indeed cheap compared to other countries. I dont know anyone who is taking that drive, but I think it'd only really be way cheaper if you had a bunch of people to split the costs... Here are some good websites you can check, check all and everyday, sometimes they'll have specials that will last like a day! And prices change every other day too! www.priceline.comwww.orbitz.comwww.cheaptickets.comwww.travelocity.comAnd...anyone driving from Indianapolis to Lafayette? I am and if you come, you're riding with me!!! Even if you cant come on Thursday or whatever, I'll drive to Indianapolis to pick you up!!!!! Ahhh imagine that if it works out??? April, Joel, Barb and me driving from Indianapolis to Lafayette??? YAY! Oh please please noooooo!!! I guarantee you that I will make a fool of myself and then everybody here will see it.. It`s going to be so embarrasing.. Damn you April for bringing this up!!! ;D Of course we're taping everything including you making a fool of yourself mister!!! Jk, we'll all probably make fools of ourselves, at least I always do so dont worry! ;D I`d go for that too if possible.. It would be cheaper and alot of fun to ride there with Melons.. The gas is alot cheaper in The States than here in Europe. I didn`t think of asking folks here if they know any website where to find cheap flights.. Imagine going to the airport in NY and not getting a ticket.. Stuck in NY while everybody else is partying in Lafayette... Scary thought!! I dont think it'll be sold out, but you deffinately dont want to wait til you get to the airport... You'll pay twice as much, IF they let you buy one at all. The sooner you buy the ticket, the cheapest it'll be. But you deffinately want to buy it at least 1 to 2 wks in advance. You guys can buy your tickets online on those websites I gave, you just need to have a credit card, I think. April is arriving in Indianapolis at 6pm on Thursday, I havent bought my tix yet but Im gonna go for the flight that arrives at 4:30pm cause thats the closest to 6 I found... So if you guys are planning on arriving on Thursday, try to book it around that time so we can all be there at the same time! This is going to be so much fun! September is almost here!!!!!!!!!

If it`s possible for me to book a ticket, then I`ll do it. A guy from work said that he couldn`t do it and he was in The States about a month ago... I don`t know..
I`ll try to make it there around the same time as you guys get there. Got to start looking for flights now..
But then again... If a car ride from NY is possible I wouldn have to think again... Doesn`t look like anyone will be driving from NY though.
