I agree. It would be hard for the boys to come, i know if one of my best friends,my bandmate, and brother passed. It would be hard for me to go and be at a Vigil for them, at the same time i think it would be good for them for take a swing by one year when theyre ready. I mean it is paying respects,Nel went not to long back I heard. I could understand both ways. Rest in Peace Richard Shannon Hoon

Nel is there every year, she's the one who organizes the whole thing since the very beginning.

I know it wasnt anyone's intention but I think that questioning whether or not they should come to the vigil is a little out of line. I know many people who had friends die who simply decide NOT to go to the grave ever, that's a personal decision and it doesnt mean you love the person any less. I dont understand why the topic is so controversial when it comes to Blind Melon, Shannon was their friend and not just an incredible musician to them. I think that it's amazing that Nel and the rest of the family do everything they do to keep the vigil going but then again, Nel has proven us so many times what a strong woman she is that it's really not surprising. Plus, of course seeing all the people come from all parts of the world to pay tribute to her son must warm her heart and probably shows that at least his death was not completely in vain...

Well said Gabbee. I don't really think there is anything left to say on the subject. If people want to know, they should read this thread from the beginning or read some of the guy's blogs.
