Second hanna- How come you will not be able to for the next few years? (if you do not mind me asking?) Next September I'll start my studies in a university and I can't take any days off at the start of the semester. I'll move out from home to my own apartment in summer and I don't know if I can't afford travelling after that. I'm also afraid to travel so far alone as I've never took a flight overseas and my English isn't that fine either so I need some friend with me. But some year I'll go to the vigil I'm sure!!

This is sooooo nice to see more vigil pics! Thanks Jay! I wonder what are those white bags beside the graves around the tent? And if it has a meaning that those lights are beside each grave too, or it's just because it's the most practic place to put them? They had lights inside the bags and are placed all around other graves so no one trips over them. Diana

That`s smart..I like the the way the bags look too. Probably becasue it`s at the vigil and every little thing that i wouldn`t care for otherwise is SOO AWESOME because it`s happening right there.I`m such a loser

I'm still in search of some friendly local melon that I can drag along with me.... My hubby said that he'd go, but I'm afraid that his melon flame just doesn't burn as brightly as I'd like. I'm the kind of person who likes to have someone familiar to walk around with in that awkward time between when you arrive someplace new and when you manage to run into someone you know. At least I have a pretty good amount of time to keep digging for hidden melons before then!

Oh Charity dont worry about that! My first vigil I didnt know anyone in person either, just people from the melon boards... But when you meet up with them it's like you're childhood friends, not awkward AT ALL! Plus, once it gets closer we can all exchange numbers, set up car pools and be next door neighbors at the Knights Inn ;D Ahhhh is it September yet?

Charity, my husband and I will be going down to Lafayette (I say down because I live in northwest Indiana, near Chicago, but I'm only 80 miles away from Lafayette) probably a few days before. If you would like you can call me on my cell and we can meet with you somewhere in Lafayette and then take you with us? So that way we can introduce you to some people and you won't feel alone. Besides, nobody's ever alone at Shannon's. It's true!

And it wont be too hard to find all the people from the boards, on top of exchanging numbers and whatnot, most people run around with nametags on so you might just be sitting by the grave and all of a sudden be tackled by a bunch of people you think you dont even know

Shannon's grave is in Dayton, Indiana. Every year melons and Shannon's family gather there on the weekend the closest to his birthday to celebrate his life and music. I've never been but I can still say for sure - yes, it IS awesome!!!! Check out this link, lots of info here: www.blindmelon.org/shannon/
