Yeah guys, hats off to all of you who are coming from other countries, and those of you who are putting relationships on the line. My first vigil I was 18, had been wanting to go since I was 16 but of course couldn't because my parents just wouldn't agree. Then once I became a "legal adult" I went and stayed with melonheads from all over the world, first vigil for most of us. Of course once you're flying there you get that little weird feeling in your stomach and wonder if the people you're going to be with are really who you think they are, and most importantly if the vigil is really what you think it is. I remember taking the shuttle to Lafayette and thinking "OMG what the hell am I doing here in the middle of nowhere with nothing but cornfields?" Then there was an old lady who asked me what I was there for and when I explained she gave me the weirdest look. She looked worried when I told her I was gonna have some people I met online pick me up from the stop to take me to the hotel. We arrived and the girls weren't there yet, so this poor old lady kept asking me if I needed a ride, and if I was sure I could trust these people. hehhehe, so adorable. But all my fears were gone the moment I saw Fer, Kiwi and Panda jump out of a car blasting melon and tackle me before Jen could even park. Man that was one of the best moments! Anyway, what Im trying to say is... I know it's a big deal and extremely scary but yes, Shannon will be looking after you... And plus, whatever you guys ever need you'll have plenty of us there to take care of you as well

haha yeah that about sums up my worries Gabbee, i mean if i were to go and i have given it thought. like going somewhere for a weekend with people you've just met online. And i'm only hours away, but Marika is from another country and doesn't speak english that well...my hat's off to you too. "OMG what the hell am I doing here in the middle of nowhere with nothing but cornfields?" that's exactly what i'd be thinking

But then I'm thinking if EVERYONE but really everyone says how they had a blast and how it's magic and great and it changes your life etc., how could it not be positive and powerful?!!

Thank you Gabby your story made me smile and gave me some comfort somehow, Because you know sometimes I feel myself a bit scared when I thought that I have to leave alone in a place that I don't know at all, with a different language and maybe a bit of different customs, but at the same time I think at the kind of emotion I would feel when I'll be there near Shannon and with all of you Melons, because this is my dream, and I say to me, it doesn't care, nevermind, don't be scared everythings will be okay, now you have the ticket, so put your ass on the plane and goooo on, 'cause it's time to gooo! like Shannon said. Anyway I'm sure that it will be definitely a great experience and a great thing for myself, beacuse I'm not alone I have lots of wonderful friends there, and I absolutely love this idea.

Marika, I'm sure you'll have a BLAST and that this will be an unforgetable beautiful experience! It's also always great to have an experience like this, to go in another country and meet other cultures, you return a whole new person, in a very positive way. I can't wait to hear from you after the vigil!

Marika at the vigil there is no such thing as being alone, the toughest part will be flying there and back. if u need someone to help you when you get here, ill be more then happy to show you around lafayette, and what not, and make sure everything goes over well for you. No one should have to worry about being alone for this event. although i cant fly with ya lol! i think my partents would flip lol!!! i hate flying anyway. If u need help ill do my best to make your expriance a good one when you come down here! once you get here though i promise you, being alone will be one feeling you will not feel there, you'll go threw tons of emoutions but being alone will not be one of them i promise that!!!

That way anything you might need you'll know where to call. Oh yeah, and where are you staying? I recomment the Knights Inn, if you havent found a place already.. They're deff. Melon friendly and Im sure Cody can vouch for that (The front desk guy from last year was a melonhead who took the day off to attend the vigil - and even gave us free internet! LOL). Lots of good times were had in those rooms, hehehe

Thanks Lemonade and Gabbee. I haven't made arrangments for a room yet. I was going to see if any other melons might need a roomie to make it cheaper on them. If all rooms are takin' I've slept in the car before...no big deal. I just know I'm coming to vigil this year and let me tell you guys I am soooo freakin' excited to meet all of you. #smiley_abzw#

Hello everyone, I have been hoping to be able to make it to the Vigil this year & I think I am going to do whatever it takes to make it (like I told Barbara - anything short of selling my blood!)! And then last Friday, Nel called me about a necklace she is going to make for me & then I KNEW I would have to do WHATEVER it takes to make it! We talked about her health, Shannon (of course!), the Vigil, etc. for about 30-45 minutes. It was the most awesome thing & then it was like my mind/heart/& soul had already decided for me. And I know that Gabbee (& others) is close with Nel & I know she will agree to how AWESOME, sweet, genuine, & down to earth Nel is! So then, I spoke to my wife about it to see what she thought (since our wedding anniversary is on Sept. 25th) & she said we would figure something out to make it happen. She will be staying at home with our Autistic son (her son & my stepson) but my brother who is ANOTHER huge Shannon, Nel, & BM fan is more than likely going to go with me. I CANNOT tell you all how excited I am even at the possibility of being able to go. I look SO forward to meeting all of you Melons in person & can hardly wait! Well, till then I will have to be patient I guess. Have a great day everyone! -J.
