Hey all,
My name is Don and I'm 34 year old folksinger/songwriter from Durham, NC. I'm also a HUGE Melonhead! I've been a fan since I first saw the video for "Dear Ol' Dad" and i've been sucked in ever since. I had the pleasure of even seeing them live once back in '93 (i think) when I was living in Atlanta. They played at the Lakewood Exhibition Center and it was an amazing show! I had tickets to see them a few years later at the Masquerade Music Park for the "Soup" tour but Shannon passed away few days before. I was so saddened by this news. the first time I remember crying over a hero that had fallen.
So here I am, all these years later and I'll be seeing them here in Raleigh in just a week or so. It's so surreal that they are back and I can't welcome them back enough. Travis is doing an amazing job and I can't say this enough... the spirit of shannon lives in these songs. These guys put all their energy, hearts and souls into these songs as well. They have more of a right than anyone to share these songs w/ the masses!
That being said, see you guys in Raleigh! I can't wait!
Peace, Don

Welcome Don! Good to you have with us.. You're lucky to have seen Blind Melon live with Shannon. Most of never got the chance. Have you been to the Sleepyhouse? Durham ain't that big of a place so it can't be far from you. I went about a month and a half ago..
You'll be meeting quite a few Melons form this forum at the Raleigh gig..
Enjoy!

Welcome Don! My husband (Greg) and I will be at the Raleigh show too! We live about 25 minutes southeast of Raleigh. I'm an old melonhead too! It's good to see more NC melonheads in the forum, there are only a handful of members from the Triangle. See ya at the show! ;D

Wow, thanks for all the wonderful welcomes! Yeah, it's really great to see the boys back doing what they need to be doing. As for being to the sleepyhouse, isn't that in Chapel HIll? I'd love to go see it but I have no idea where it's located. Can anyone help me out w/ this?

A lot of people think it's in Chapel Hill, but The Sleepyhouse is in Durham. It's located at 926 West Trinity Avenue. It's directly across the street from a church. Glen said that they had initially tried to rent a house in Chapel Hill, but there were no 5 bedroom houses available in Chapel Hill when they were ready to rent so they rented a 5 bedroom house in Durham.

Sonya, you'll have to give me directions to the Sleepyhouse. How far is it from your house?
