great song! Thanks for sharing Ryan! I was thinking they may play one from Brad's album. Such a solid record. I am hoping to get a physical copy of Travis' record real soon. These guys need to make more music together!

It is difficult to guess who would now place Blind Melon if your unfortunate leader Shannon Hoon had not abused drugs in the mid-nineties. Perhaps now would be talking about a supposed third album that would have kept on top of success or maybe we would have put a conditional string of subsequent albums away from the quality of the two studio albums that got edited. The fact is that after twenty years of the publication of the first album that put the talk of the alternative scene, especially back in the U.S., returning to Spain with their new singer and eager to celebrate birthdays. Because if something is to be applauded for this anniversary tour is that, all this had to be and was a true celebration of the songs of the band and that little genius that was Hoon . Always showed the utmost respect to which is provided from the closeness with his audience and always more eager than any other band of youngsters. Before I came on the scene opened the show Jonny Kaplan , without their Lazy Stars , with a repertoire of boring to practice opening act with a set consisting of him, his guitar and the outstanding fresh air was a brief collaboration with his colleague Brad Smith of Blind Melon . No doubt we will now Kaplan, for his albums and concerts history speaks for itself, but for the work of opening act leaves much to be desired, unless you have dived a lot in his discography or follower be more minimalist folk. Luckily Blind Melon did not pray too and attacked with some of its most intrepid pearls to the first hurdle. For example chose to start with "Galaxie" coupled with "2x4" , something we assume we all agree that is the best possible start to a concert of the Angels. Travis Warren kept the type very well, although at first glance it seems that its form (physical and vocal) was not going to keep up, especially after we planted those doubts the fact of being fired a couple of years ago by the excesses and not caring much for his voice. It is unfair to compare this magical tour with that concert they gave in Azkena Rock Festival 2008 , when nobody gave a penny for the meeting by surprise or by an unknown band that was uncovered Warren as the ideal replacement for Hoon (relatively speaking, course), but a concert in Madrid was very up to that. Gone are the problems that seemed to be in alignment with Santiago, where Christopher Thorn was sick and where it seems that Travis did not have a good night with her voice, the latter perhaps why his voice sounded slightly lower volume while the rest of components of the band sounded perfectly clear even if you can not be faulted. So were falling each and every one of the issues to be expected, of course focused on the first two albums of the band and just a faint memory of its recent "For My Friends" with the issue of same title. The great moments of his more emotional side could come clearly in moments of tears of a "Change" spotless, "No Rain" which featured psychedelic version of it as an introduction (which comes in "Nico" ) attached to the classical version of the same, the unforgettable harmonies of "Walk" , a surprisingly huge version of "Soup" and a good "mouthfull of Cavities" despite the loss of voices in the game. In the busiest section clearly "Paper Scratcher" and " Soak The Sin " to close the set standard as threads debut with "Wilt" and coreadísima "Toes Across the Floor" from "Soup" Warren was released to the public three times, hugged the front rows and treated with love each and every one of the attendees, including Shannon Hoon own mother. No less charming was Brad Smith with his eternal smile, even tearing his tribute to the late leader playing "I Will not Be The Same" as the first item of the encore, his solo project Abandon Jalopy . The smiles and applause ended seizing the end of the concert with "The Pusher" bright, just as one more night echoed the "The End" by The Doors . Will this be the last time we can enjoy them live? Well according to return this summer have commented, we do not know is whether it will be a tribute to the history of the band or go ahead with new material. by Ricardo
