Good Luck On This journey My Friend. I looked for a Replica of Shannons Squash Blossom Necklace for Years. That Necklace was such a Huge part of Shannon. and I felt Like Having a replica of it would be a way to Honor His Memory with My own Life. I Have Had No Luck Finding a Necklace anything Like it either. The greg prato Book says that Shannons Mother Nel Made the Necklace for him. I somehow Had missed that information up until the time I read the book (which is odd, because I have actually Spent hours Talking to Shannons Mother over the past five years, I have Been By her side While she was wearing that exact Necklace...But Never remembered her saying she Made it Herself For Shannon.) The Closest thing I have seen To The real deal was when I attended Shannons Vigil in 2005. I Was fortunate enough to meet a Lovely Young Couple from Canada while there, and they Both were wearing Miniature Replicas of the Squash Blossom Necklace. The Blossom on theirs was probably No bigger Than 1 inch (if that Big), But Were special made to Look just like Shannons. The details are a Bit Fuzzy, But it seems Like they said they had them Made by a friend who was a Silversmith? Regardless, I Failed to get a contact number from them before we parted ways, and I have regretted it ever since. Not only because They Had Means of Getting the Replica Necklaces, But also because they were just super cool People altogethor. Unfortunately My Memory Doesnt WithHold their names either. Maybe someone else on the Forum will Know the couple I am speaking of and share that info with Both of us! Wish I could be of More help, But My suggestion would Be to Contact a silversmith And ask about the possibility of Have a replica special made (which is Probably a Bit too pricy for my income or I would Have done it already). I wish You the Best of Luck in finding what you are looking for. May the Spirit of Shannon be with you on your Search... (And please feel free to share any info You Happen to stumble across on the subject.)

I think the squash blossom necklace is a Zuni or Hopi piece of jewelry. Regardless if you checked websites for Native American jewelry in Arizona, you might find something. There seems to be all sorts of different styles of squash blossom necklaces. Some of the ones on this page are pretty cool: www.toh-atin.com/jewelry/squash-blossom-necklaces

I thought I had read somewhere Nel bought the necklace from a garage sale for Shannon . Not sure if that's right but I'm sure someone knows the story or could ask Nel. :-)

Is it possible to see what your finished product looks like?
Nel did get it from a garage sale. I talked to her about it at one of the early 2000's vigils. I got the necklace tattoed on my wrist, wish I would have seen the necklace up close before I got it due to some small errors!

squash blossoms are Zuni, and Navajo affiliated pieces of jewelry and traditionally no 2 were made the same. They serve as spiritual protection pieces.
