Hey Ryan, Congrats 1.What kind of car (or truck) do you drive and what color is it? 2.The title of the last book you read? 3.Three top things on your 'Bucket List'? Thanks LadyJane! 1. Ford Ranger - small size pick-up truck (dark green) 2. Man in Black - by Johnny Cash (This was the autobiography that Johnny Cash wrote in the mid-70s). 3. To record my future album at Wishbone Studios!

(If you don't mind my digging, of course) You gave me numero uno, but what are the other two?

I had a difficult time coming up with just one. I totally understand the "Before I Die" list, but I have been trying to focus my energies on not bringing so many expectations to the table in all areas in my life. It's good to have goals, and its good to have dreams, but I have found that expectations can truly inhibit an experience. I'm afraid that if I really project too much about the future that I might miss it once it actually starts to happen. As Garth says, "Live in the Now."
I have dreams and goals, but even though I am a list person when it comes to going to the grocery store, I tend to not be a list person when it comes to my life as a whole. I am eager to experience what might be down the road no matter if it meets my expectations or not.
Sorry if I didn't give you #2 and #3 but my answer maybe told you a little bit more about me. I hope I was respectful in the way I responded. I don't mean to offend you or disregard the question itself.

I haven't been to a vigil as of yet.
I never got to see Shannon. Actually that story is kind of heart breaking. I was living in Fort Collins during my Freshman year of college, and I heard that Blind Melon was playing over in Boulder (about an hour away). Well I was really, really poor at the time, and I decided that I didn't have the funds to buy a ticket and pay for gas to get there, so I decided against it, and maybe I would just catch them next time around. Well that Boulder show was on 10-17-1995 and we all know that Shannon passed on 10-21-1995. So needless to say. . . its something that I have been kicking myself in the ass for over the years.
But there is a positive note in the story. Fast forward to the fall of 2007. Blind Melon was back and touring with Travis. No, it wasn't the most original or most authentic line-up (but pretty damn close), so I jumped at the chance to see my favorite band, because for all I knew. . . I had missed the chance and there was never going to be another chance to see Blind Melon (in any form). But much to everyone's surprise Blind Melon was back, and I went to see 9 shows total (3 east coast shows, 3 midwest shows, and 3 Colorado shows).
So I guess what I have to say is that I learned my lesson and didn't pass up something good. And now Blind Melon are on "hiatus" for the foreseeable future (don't ask me to define that anymore because I have no clue), and I can look back over the last year and a half and say that I really experienced it as much as I could before the music went silent again. But I have not given up hope for a third time around. Wouldn't that be sweet? No matter what happens, I will support the band if they continue with a new singer, call the band something else, keep the name Blind Melon, hang it up, or decide upon a course of action that no fan has even suggested or considered.
I am just glad they gave me that second chance. After passing up that first chance, just getting a second chance was a real sweet deal! Thank you Blind Melon!

Just wanted to put a note in this thread that I will be out of town for a bit. Just had another death in the family. I will try to remember to revisit this thread when I return. Thanks again for voting for me as melon-of-the-month. I am honored to be recognized by such a cool group of melons!
