I'm off school for Mardi Gras holiday! One week of parades and good food. I'm going to a couple of big parades this week in New Orleans...are any other Melons coming down here to celebrate?

I wanna go to New Orleans Its only a 7hr drive for me, but still I cant make it... Right now in Brazil everyone is off work and partying too, for a whole week too. Damn it Im sick and I see a very depressing weekend coming up.. I'll probably be sitting on my ass, eating and watching all the parties going on in my hometown on the Brazilian channel #banghead#

yeah everyone is getting up early for kegs and eggs tomorrow, it's gonna be a shit show. i'm not gonna partake in the activities this year though. it's so cold here. it snowed alot the other day and it's starting to snow again right now. and it's so damn hard to find a toilet downtown..... ....that and it's about eight bucks for a drink

Yes April, Carnival and Mardi Gras are the same celebration...in New Orleans it's called Mardi Gras (which is French for Fat Tuesday).

Yes we celebrate the Mardi Gras or Carnival, with parade in the streets and lots of costumes, confetti and colors, it's such your Halloween for us, although now we celebrate Halloween too here.

Sadly our Mardi Gras has sorta lost that traditional setting. It's mainly humongous "floats" that advertise companies or famous people wearing costumes on them. They throw trinkets like beads and stuffed animals. You'd be surprised how far some people are willing to go for a stuffed animal worth a dollar lol.
