Ive been looking forward to Chinese Democracy for some time...to me its not about all the extra bull crap rumors and opinions people have of axl rose, bc few ppl know the true axl rose...IT IS ABOUT MUSIC...its not about 'well slash and duff isnt there, so its gonna suck'....anyways, will YOU buy chinese democracy?....You can go to gunsnroses.com to listen to the single "better"

Dl'd the album last night.
Pretty much the same as the nine song leak.
I am not impressed. It's just not what I like about GnR. The raunchy blues rock is gone, replaced with a NiN type style which here, doesn't work (IMHO). Knew it wouldn't live up to the hype.

while i respect your opinion...the final versions are alot better quality than the DLd...and you cant expect 'old gnr' to show up in this cd, its basically all axl rose's vision, which has progressed over the last 15 years. Some good rockers, but the ballads are really beautiful

I'm not going to buy it, I probably know someone who has and will probably make me listen to it, I'm not a big GNR fan...

I was expecting a muddled mess, with techno shit all over it.
I actually really dig it. song better is really interesting.
some songs are just flat out really different. like "if the world." I need to spend more time with it, only 2 times thru so far.
bottom line its axl fucking rose.
and as I guy said to me at a GNR show in 2003 Axl may be a bitch be he's OUR bitch.

Wow!!! The album is really, really good. It is definitely a progression from the Illusion albums. Chinese Democracy was on my front porch when I got home last night, I ordered it on LP and I was shocked to see that it's a double LP. Say what you will about this whole process but you cannot deny that William Bailey is one of the most creative musicians on the planet. If you close your eyes really really tight it sounds just like Guns N Roses. Axl Rose WAS, IS and ALWAYS WILL BE GNR!!!!
Musically, I can understand why the original lineup has gone separate ways. I've seen Velvet Revolver several times; they play a punk style of Rock N Roll, more like the Appetite album. Axl has taken Chinese Democracy in a more; I wouldn’t say techno direction but a more engineered direction, almost in a Pink Floyd kind of way. I can almost vision this new music being set to a story or movie, kind of like Tommy or The Wall.

Its exactley what Axl wanted, the reason the band broke up in the first place. This album just went further in the direction "illusions" was heading. With that said, I think the more I listen, the more I like. I'm not handing out any awards, but I'll listen to it and enjoy it.

hmm, other than your posts, I've only heard bad things about it.
Actually, the critic review of it said it was good(which made me think otherwise since they're usually wrong..lol)
I may pick it up, or not... like I said before, I'll probably end up hearing it, like it or not

Judge the music for yourself. a legit couple of run throughs on the album, and youll realize its different from anything thats out there right now. Not a 10 out of 10, but its easily worth 12 bucks compared to other shite on the shelves. Enjoy! Favs: Better, Street of Dreams, Catcher in the Rye, Sorry, I.R.S.

As a long time Guns n' Roses fan I guess i can weigh in on this old thread...after listening to Chineese Democracy Its hard to Imagine it took "14 years" to make it! Look what they did with the Illusions and that many songs in 1 release and it sure as heck didnt take 14 yrs to record that. The new c.d. isnt anywhere on the caliber of the old stuff ....gone is the raunchiness that made the name Guns n' Roses a house hold name.....but I do like it .....it is a good c.d. just so far removed of what I expected ....people grow and so do their ways of writing songs...its what Axl wanted and welllll.......he gets it. The point Im trying to get across is it is good music albeit different....like Metallica who changed their style to just rock instead of metal...musics good but definitely not the metal gods they used to be....unless you see them live because they are very heavy live still........
