i just see blind melon taking a little different spin on the melon this time.....i dont see them getting someone who sounds as much like shannon, which i really dont think he sounds that much like shannon, but i see a singer with a little different style and perspective......... Wasn't one of the reasons they reformed Blind Melon with Travis because he could do Shannons stuff along with the new stuff? I just cannot hear No Rain (or any other BM song new or old) sung by a baritone or someone lower in the register. Anybody with a high enough voice to do the old stuff (and now the new) will be "Shannony". I don't think the direction they go, will be all that different. I think the most important thing though, is that they get on with the person so they don't have another issue like with Travis.

8-)yeah, i totally agree with you, i dont see a baritone doin it either, i know they will get someone who can do justice to the old songs.....personally to me, without the old songs it wouldnt be blind melon.......i guess what i was sayin is that i dont feel like they are gonna go out and try to find the next travis....i dont know, i think it will definitely be melon, but just like soup was not the same as blind melon, i dont feel that they will try to do for my friends part 2.....i see them shakin it up......but stayin within the bounds of blind melon.....or somethin like that.....

I don't think I'd be able to accept a new singer after all this. I heard Travis before I got a chance to be reluctant, plus he is the only person capable of doing it I believe. There may be others who can sing the songs very well, but the songs had a feel that could put a tear in your eye.
Either Melon pack it in, the members do a different project/ band, or patch things up with Travis (and Travis do whatever he nneds to do to get back, not a one sided affair). I personally want to hear more of his solo stuff.
I don't want to hear anyone else singing Shannon and Travis' songs. I think getting a 3rd singer will make Melon look a bit like a joke. You see all these hairmetal bands going through different singers after their initial success was over (Ratt, for example). I'm afraid Melon getting a new singer would end up looking like a Melon cover band with orignal members who has to play county fairs. It's better to bow out gracefully than to damage the legacy of what was and what could have been

People said the same thing when the band got back together with Travis. Now, there are HUGE Travis fans out there, like yourself. Who's to say that can't happen again?

That is true Matt, but it took them 12 years to find Travis.

i see all sides and respect everybodys view. i would be happy if travis was back with them, but id also be happy if some other talented musician wanted to step up and sing some melon. if i can accept someone other than shannon singin melonsongs, i can certainly be fine with someone steppin into travis's place. to me blind melon will never be a joke. i just dont see how a bands talent go from......"my favorite band ever" to.....a joke......the talents still the same folks!!! #hoonsmiley#

That is true Matt, but it took them 12 years to find Travis. They weren't even looking, at the time Travis came along... They didnt "find" Travis... Now that the guys know they want to move forward, write more music together, and find a suitable front man, it wont take 12 years.

I also think that the guys realize they have a hungry fan base out there where before I think they felt like they were sort of forgotten a bit. None of them realized the fan support they actually had waiting around all these years before. I think they may work pretty hard to find a new singer.

I don't think you can replace a singer like this a 3rd time. If they do, I'm sure they won't just find any old sap to sing, but I don't see it happening and being as good.
I didn't mean the band would become a joke and I'd hate them. They could go get a reality show or get Sanjaya to sing for them and it won't tarnish what was done before for me. I was speaking in regards to what the band might look like. 3 different singers wouldn't look good. I just know I will be very critical and reluctant, but only because I love the band and don't want them to screw up

Does anyone know more about Travis and his solo album? I am hoping that he will sign with someone and release a physical album, but everything has been very quiet the last few months...

Ok I may be a little high, but I vote they wait another few years, play solo or maybe Unified Theroy, then rear back up to glory fronted by no other than....Nico Blue Hoon.

Forgotten Sun reminds me a little of NIN. Semester A isn't too bad. I really wish he'd just hook himself up with a band... I'm getting a little tired of the drum machine...
I also wish he would post something about his progress, if there has been any. He's got tons of fans here, and it's almost like he's leaving us hanging.
