I always wondered if there might be any legal ties to BM that might prevent him from working right now. There was a lot of investment in the new melon project, the CD, the tour, the documentary, I can't see how he could just walk away without any repercussions. I mean they must have had some sort of contract through it all.
All I know is it does suck that he is MIA.

Mid 20's to early 30's is when depression and bipolar takes them (us) away.

Is it too early to call for a Mach 2 reunion?? Really, they should bury the hatchet and quit wasting time searching for a replacement. Blind Melon can't find a replacement better than Travis and Travis will never find a better bunch of musicians to play with.

Blind Melon can't find a replacement better than Travis and Travis will never find a better bunch of musicians to play with. Would they accept him back in the fold after all this? I imagine they were pretty fed up with it all. Who's to say that after they reunite, it wouldn't happen again. I know, that is a negative way to look at it but I think the New Years show was that "reunion". I just miss the Melon and the ability to go to their shows. I do think they didn't even get to scratch the surface of what they could have done with Travis. Another way to look at it, is maybe, just maybe, Travis could not handle the shadow he was in. I dunno. I wish he would come out and say but then again, if he doesn't want us to know why things happened the way they did, then it is none of our business.

We'll never really know the whole story but it seemed pretty obvious Travis was getting burnt out with the grueling tour schedule. To my knowledge it was his first time out on the road to that extent and singing the old tunes night after night took its toll. I would imagine there are other factors from both sides in there too. I truly do not believe that he couldn't get out from the "shadow". He more than adequately filled the shoes, just ask 99% of the people who saw any of the shows, the remaining 1% will never accept anyone but Shannon anyway.
All I know is we have a bunch of melon jonesing fans waiting to see them again so I think it is definitely worth burying the hatchet. Now that they have experienced what they went through I would like to think they are all wiser and could come to a mutual agreement.
I still say they need to get out on the road with all their friends (Rene, Chris Shinn, Dave etc..) and tour as a "melonpalooza" of all their respective material. The shows would be packed and our heads would be rocked off!! How amazing would that be??

From everything I've heard, I highly doubt he would be welcomed back.
If he was just burnt out from touring, then I could see (somewhere down the road) that they could work things out.. But, that's highly the case.

Is the rift so wide that it can't be overcome. Matt, it sounds like you know more of the Travis story. Anything you can share?

TRAVIS HAS A NEW SONG!!!!!!!!!!! forgotten sun I'd say it was worth the wait. It's fucking great I admit, it is a nice song. I also agree with Matt that I really don't think he will come back to the Band any time soon. I wish things could magically work out though. I wish there was a miracle way that they could make up because Travis has a gorgeous voice and it fit. I think personality wise he didn't fit and long term goal wise he didn't fit. I'm thankful for what he contributed and hopeful that the band and Travis will both move forward.

very well said meredith.......i agree. travis is a fantastic musician. anyone who will deny that knows nothing about music......i just see blind melon taking a little different spin on the melon this time.....i dont see them getting someone who sounds as much like shannon, which i really dont think he sounds that much like shannon, but i see a singer with a little different style and perspective.........i think bobby hilbrich's still out there......along with many others that would be very happy to take the mic. good things come to those that wait.....but i want my melon!!!!!
