Ok Melons, here is a question for ya. My friends and I were at a local show this weekend and some of them made comments that people who wore merch of the band they were seeing were commiting social suicide. That it is the mark of a crazed fan, especially when you go purchase at the merch table then proceed to put on said item. Others in the group thought that it was a way to show your appreciation for the band and that there was nothing wrong with wearing the bands merch at the show. So, what do you all think? Thanks for your opinions!!

Oh jeez! People should be able to wear whatever they'd like. I've seen so many photos of the crowds online, wearing Melon Merch. I don't see anything wrong with that at all. Showin' support is not a bad thing.

Personally, I've always worn BM shirts if I had them. I've been to a lot of shows and always pick up a shirt so I have a bunch of them. This last go round of shows, I wore a BM shirt to every show. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think it's showing support.
Then again, I could be a fanatic so what do I know.

And I have been to shows (not BM) that where I have purchased the shirt and changed into it. So, there's nothing wrong with it IMO

It's a tribute to the band, in my opinion.

What about a group of crazed fans in Brad t-shirts.....? ;D
I would wear whatever I am comfortable in, if that happens to be a shirt of the band I am seeing, then I guess I'm "that guy". I probably would only change into a new shirt if I had spilled beer on the one I was already wearing.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, you are showing support and your love of the music. Nobody should care about what you are wearing anyway, just the music, it isn't a fashion show.

I see wearing a band shirt to a show is a away to show appreciation. If I have one, I'll wear the band's shirt that I am seeing. I like to show that I support the band. And I love band merch!!

I have 6 different Blind Melon shirts and wear them all the time. It has never crossed my mind as to whether it is cool or not. I love Blind Melon. Period. It's just a way of saying I'm a fan and proud of it. Just like people at sporting events wear team hats and jerseys.
Social suicide? Thats ridiculous. If anything, it will help identify you to other people before after and during the show and will likely help you meet new people and break the ice. Let's say you've traveled a great distance to see a band and are in a city you've never been to before. You're chilling at a bar having a beer and you see someone wearing a Blind Melon shirt ... how much more likely are you to introduce yourself to that person and perhaps make a new friend? Y'know what I mean.

Thank you, everything you guys are saying is exactly what I tried to say. I have lots of different shirts from lots of different bands and love to wear them all. So, I will continue to wear my band merch proudly at every show (not that I wouldn't have anyways) and Brad, you made a great comparison with the sports team thing. Thanks for weighing in everyone! I am going to show this thread to all my nay-saying friends who are way to concerned with image!

When people are so focused on Image at a concert they miss part of the good time...
I say wear a bear costume if it makes you happy! I wear the band t at shows or support other bands by wearing their t to other concerts. Its all good!

I wear BM stuff every chance I get(daily) so why would I wear anything else to a show?

Same here Brandy....I have my For My Friends album shirt on right now. Can't decide whether to keep it on for the concert tonight, or change into my "I Love My Melons" Forum shirt...or there's at least five Blind Melon shirts and I have that many Vigil shirts to choose from....Decisions..decisions! I usually wear a Shannon Hoon shirt to the shows. It's all good! #smilieIloveblindmelon#

I wear vigil shirts and BM shirts all the time. I'm not ashamed of it and I don't what people think of it. If seeing my shirts sparks one person's memory of the band then right on!

I proudly sported my Bomb face shirt to the show as will be seen in the pics I will post. I showed this thread to the nay sayers and told them they were too worried about what others thought. I LOVE MY MELON SHIRTS!!!!
