I have nothing to post being that my camera decided to stop working tonight, but I just wanted to thank all the forum members for making me & Rachel's 4-stop tour so great. You really made us feel welcome, and we had a blast hanging out. Next time Blind Melon is around here, I'm quite sure we'll meet again.

So I don' t have set list (damn green stuff!) but I have to say that last night went above and beyond anything I could've imagined! For starters, re-connecting with the forum clan after so long was a great treat. We all hung, hugged and caught up then went in. The opening act was pretty terrible (Rogers, if you're reading this, my band Mystery Road would love to open then next time you play the Carolinas, hint hint!) so it was a pretty brutal, but quick 30 minutes. Not long after the house lights went down, the intro tape rolled and the band took the stage before a full house. I don't know if it was sold out or not but it was PACKED to the rafters.
Glen kicked in w/ that familiar drum intro that starts out "Soak The Sin" and they were off. The energy of the audience was just so positive and high that you just had to be loving it not just for yourself but the band. Follwing "Soak" was "Galaxie" and then "2x4". Trust me, it was like the gates had been opened for a stampede of horses. The show had a great flow and the band was loving it. CT didn't seem to be as dominant of a character has I had seen him in the past but tonite, it was all about Rogers and Travis. Rogers rockstar poses and Townsend like swagger just really had us all chanting "Rogers! Rogers!" in between songs that had him laughing and grinning at times to himself. It was great fun to see the band so energetic and tight.
Some of the other highlights were the always beautiful "Sleepyhouse", the bubble and light show during "Skinned" which had us all singing along and laughing, the absolutely amazing "Time" closer that had this amazing jam in the end of it and MY personal highlight was face ripping "Paper Scratcher" which had the whole audience dancing and singing "My mind is a mind that I have come to know...". It was pretty amazing!
The songs from the upcoming album sounded fantastic in the set. "Wishing Well" was my fave but after this show, I'd have to say that "Sometimes" is probably my 2nd fave. My first fave is "Down On The Pharmacy" which they had played previous nights but to my dismay, it was not on the setlist. There was even a rumor going around about a song not played yet that might be added (Sonya, I heard what song it was! Shhhhh!) and that didn't happen either.
The show was yet another magical night in the Blind Melon history book kids. This band gives 110% and it REALLY shows. In all honesty, with it being only March, I'd say it's pretty safe to say that I may have peaked early as this show is going to be and extremely hard one to beat!
I'll have pictures posted later and I'm sure someone has the setlist! Great to see all my friends last night and take pictures w/ you all. Ya'll are the greatest!
Love & Music, Don
This night I also felt was so much tighter than the last run. Travis has really come into his own as a member of this band and gone was the justification of why he was there and whatnot. This time he just took the stage and did what he does. There's no need for him to justify his presence or explain it. He's proved himself numerous times already so it's great to see him just finally comfortable in the new set of shoes he's brought to the band.

I need to shout out to the Road Posse 7. We've been split up today. Last nite was great!! I met many of you from here for the first time, and some of you for the 2nd or third or fourth time! That being said; I gotta say this...the WHOLE front of the stage was packed with forum members!!!! It was great to see all of us into it Together!!! Yeah, the opening band...........phew. not good. the first tune began w/ a minute of "earth angel, earth angel....will u be mine.." I turned to Greg and said.........."oh crap, I think this is gonna turn into punk" I barely got those words outa my mouth, and sure enough.....distortion was on at full gale. Blind Melon was especially welcomed warmly last nite. The openers did their job #haha# The flood gates were open at the onset of Soak onto the crowd. It was a no looking back affair last nite. The fellas took the time to change up the set list ALOT for last nite. I think the band is recognizing the large #'s of the Same fans following this leg, and I think it makes 'em nervous What was also cool was the release of two new shirts!!!!!!!!! they are amazing! by FAR the best of the latest of shirts out there. One has like a Madhatter looking fella w/ what looks like a potion bottle, and the other a flaming jetliner w/ blind melon around it. Those shirts were flying outa there. I think each of the Road Posse 7(it was down to 6 last nite) got at least one of 'em. The energy was really good. There were hoppers from front ta back. The audience CARRIED Change!!!!!!!!! There was also some not cool energy. There was a chic causing a stir behind us, elbowing and pushing on people. Heather and Karen got a good dose of that. Poor Aaron's tripods were being trampled on by a rowdy bunch of bikers. (bikers to a melon show?) I hope your recording turns out bro . Speaking of engergy.... I had a fully charged 90 min battery for my HDD Camera that went Pthththth by maybe 40 mins!!! Weird! We were talking about that later on at the Embassy Suites, and Sonya and Greg said that means there we spirits around. It did kinda spook me. I got nonstop tight shots up until the end of Tumblin Down, when I noticed 10 mins left of battery life. Glen told us that the track that was go'n to be played, but hadn't been yet was gonna be I Wonder. So I wanted to save the battery for THE song that got me into the band.....waaaay back. It didn't get played. They didn't get to get it to the place where they wanted to, to be able to preform it. Travis has been coming down w/ something. It's disapointing but understandable too. We were all sardined in this warehouse of a building. The bouncer told me that Capacity was 1100. Infact someone also told me that when they went to the bar that there was still a large line up outside hoping to get it. Perhaps some had to be turned away I dunno, but that'd be great news for the band being just one week on it's OFFICAL tour #rock# It wasn't pouring out after the show, but there was a pretty hefty mist outside so the band wasn't out long last nite. Barbara was able to get some pics of me w/ them. It's hard to see them all in one nite. I managed to get my Fedora signed by Travis, CT, Brad AND Glen. Rogers has always been the one to stay out the longest so I was leaving him for last...then DARNIT he was on the bus. I could see him watch'n the big screen but couldn't get his attention. It was the last nite for the Road Posse 7, so we NEEDED to thank them and say our good byes. A trip of a lifetime. I had to go into the venue to find Glen. I walked in on something heated. Some chick REALLY PISSED him off....then here I was trying to get my shite signed but you gotta do what ya do. What ever footage I have is gonna be linked up w/ Aaron & Heather. Same w/ the DC show #rock# Which BTW was THE BEST SHOW OF THE WEEK, and best ever for me and a good many other peeps as well. The best part about it is that there is audio for it, also Heather & Aaron linking up w/ two other video sources (mind included) This is go'n to be an incredible DVD (DC i'm talk'n) ,fellas!!!!!!!!! No hype, TRUE TRUE TRUE I can't think of anything else about Charlotte. Just ROGERS sorry I missed you man. bummed

oh yeah. I'm not sure if this has ANY truth to it..... 'cause as you will find, Travis loves to BS on stage......BUT he said that he and Rogers had just been talking and that Rogers said the riff from Wilt was inspired by Tom Morello Cool, if it's true. Saying that; Tonite Tumblin Down was about Kate Hudson #lmao#

oh yeah. I'm not sure if this has ANY truth to it..... 'cause as you will find, Travis loves to BS on stage..... Um yeah....according to Travis, Kate Hudson tried to kill Andy Warhol. We watched the videos from the three shows we taped and the footage looks awesome (especially the DC and Norfolk shows where the light guys were spot on). We're working on getting all of the audio upped over at TTD then we'll start working on the Norfolk show while we wait for other footage from Washington and Charlotte. A virtual flood of Melon!! Woot!

just thought i'd post up real quick, its aaron here using heather's account [just remember: no capitalization, bad grammar, and "..." between sentences = aaron...proper grammar/spelling/capitals = heather ;D ] it was really nice to finally get to meet some of ya'll this time around, since i'm usually in the back and busy breaking down after the show...finally have some faces to put with the names when heather's talking about ya'll! as for my synopsis of the show--what a crazy night!!! i felt like i was taping a metal show or something! the tapers' section was mad hectic, waaaaaay too many novice drunks and straight up a**holes knocking into our stands...so my camera work isn't quite as polished as i'd like it to be, what with having to keep an eye out for everyone walking by the whole time, and the mics got knocked into a few times...but with casey's and triptick's cam footage, hopefully the dvd will still come out alright the 9:30 club & norva footage looks great tho...will begin work on the norva dvd in the next day or two, once i get some space cleared off one of the hd's...oh, & we finally finished the dvd for the last tremont show [2007-11-30]...it'll be posted today or tomorrow over at TTD [www.thetradersden.org for those unfamiliar]...i'll also start a thread here to start up a vine, for those who don't do bittorrent before i head out, i have a bit of a confessional to make -- considering i was never a BM fan back in the 90s and only recently got into them due to heather, i have to admit that i really kinda thought i'd be a bit sick of them after editing the last show for dvd and then going on a 3 night run this week...however, that has proven to be the exact opposite -- i wish we could afford to continue on the road for more shows...not only am i not sick of the music, but i found myself having to step away from the camera a few times just to rawk out for a minute! so to you boys in the band [and Mike as well] i say, CHEERS! you've made me a real fan, thank you...the new music is fan-fuckin-tastic, you've all been so humble in person, and as a taper, its really refreshing to meet a band that not only allows you to record, but is so accomodating and appreciative of the fact yer willing to come and do it! i look forward to seeing where this band takes ya'll in the future, and i hope i can be there to tape and document the process along the way now back to transferring tapes... aaron

I have so much catching up to do with reading and posting. I'm at work right now so I will try to get some posting done when I get home. The show was amazing. The crowd was really into it. It was great to have everyone from the forum there. Bam, wanderingpaddle, the Road Posse 7 (minus 1 of course ), chapelhillbilly, etc. It always feels like a family reunion.
