Ashley - you mentioned you live near the venue. Do you know of any places where I could park for free? I live in Chicago and I've been to the Rave many times before and I know how bad the area is right next to it, so I want to avoid the bad part of town.
Normally I just park in that $20 Rave parking but I don't know if any of my friends are going to be coming with me to split the price. $20 for parking plus gas is gonna be expensive. I drive a Pontiac Firebird and it doesn't exactly conserve on gas either. I'm just trying to keep costs to a minimum right now because I work construction and work has been really slow lately so I'm on a tight budget.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Flick I know your question was for Ashley We were just there for Kid Rock and we found parking in a side lot for $10 just the very 1st side street past the rave. The Rave lot was $30(holy hannah) On the rave web site they have VIP parking in the front lot for $15 although I'm not sure if it's available for the melon show.My hubby and son are there again tonight to see Ace from Kiss so I'll let you know how it went.

I'm going to park in the McDonald's lot. Or in a bank parking lot a few blocks down.

Now, I love Blind Melon and all, but I don't expect this to be a HUGE show... its not really getting much hype... I heard the radio mention a ticket giveaway the other day and thats the only time I've heard them mention it... and other than that its just in the Rave's ads in the local papers.
Therefore, I guarantee you can find parking on the street... I've gone to huge sold out shows in the ballroom and still found street parking. (the rave is multi venue). Usually we park on the block across the street from the rave... past the gas station in between Wisconsin and Wells, or behind the Rave on one of the Residential streets.
McDonald's parking lot is always an option too. No one seems to care if you park there. And its well lit. Be advised the street parking generally has someone asking you for change... we usually say no and keep walking, or one time my friend was a genious and said no, but I can bum ya a smoke.... which kept the guy happy. Nothing to really be scared about.

It's in the ballroom. Usually when it sells out The Rave they'll move it upstairs to the ballroom. I noticed the same thing about the lack of promo for the concert. I was kinda hoping that because of this the show would stay in The Rave and wouldn't fill up. Is that wrong? Loi

I want the concert to be big for the guys, but the little devil inside me wants it to just be a nice little intimate concert for us forum lovers! And I can't wait to meet you guys! Are we still planning on The Gig before hand?

Well I broke out the Galaxie yesterday, drove it for about 30 minutes, need to bring it in this week for some servicing, so unless there's like a serious snow/hail storm the Galaxie will be there. I plan on being there kinda early, I should leave Chicago around 1.p.m. Meet you guys at the Gig! #thumb#

Guys, I am SO excited. This show is enabling me from making conversation about anything other then Blind Melon. It's going to be my first Blind Melon show!! Mario, I'm very excited to see the Galaxie. How early are you guys going to the show?! I want to be right up front, because if I'm driving 11 hours, missing a week of school and spending loads of money - I want to SEE!!!! One week tomorrow!! Woo hoo!!!!

so far its just been ads in the onion with a calendar listing of all the events at the rave, just a tiny little picture, or their name is on a list... nothing special. i'll keep my eye out for something worthwhile for ya tho.
