Current Band Members[/u] Chris Shinn - Vocals, Guitar. Chad Taylor - Guitar. Patrick Dahlheimer - Bass. Chad Gracey - Drums. ---------- How +Live+ is related to Blind Melon:[/u] Christopher Thorn toured and recorded an album with the band. Brief History:[/u] This is just regarding the time Thorn played in the band. During 1999, Christopher Thorn was asked to join the band +Live+ as they toured. After a few rehersals, the band hit the road. One festival that the band played was the Tibet Festival, founded by Adam Yauch of The Beastie Boys. "It was great playing for 100,000 people" Thorn stated. After a brief tour, the band hit the studio to record "The Distance To Here". Realizing that he really didn't have much creative input in the writing process, Thorn decided to leave the band. "It wasn't my band. After meeting Chris Shinn, Brad and I decided to create Unified Theory. I would be able to write again" Thorn explained. Interesting fact: The only song on the album that Thorn didn't record with the band was "The Dolphin's Cry". Christopher played with the band for approximately three months. That includes the rehersals, tour, and recording the record. The guys from +Live+ were very surprised when Thorn told them he was leaving to form another band. However, they all still remain good friends. There are very few photos of Thorn performing with the band. There is one floating around, however. The front page of the the Lancaster, PA newspaper posted a picture of Ed and Thorn during a performance. This was due to the fact that it was a home-town gig for the band. Thorn felt a little funny about the picture because the headline read "Live Returns"... And, if Thorn's memory is correct, it was his first show with the band. ---------- For more information about the band, please visit their website: Freaks 4 LiveAs for a quick sound clip, we're posting a clip from a song called "Sparkle". right click... save asSPARKLE SOUND BITE---------- More information will be posted if anything surfaces. Also, if anyone can find any pictures of Christopher performing with the band, please PM myself or Ryan. ----------

I like busting out Throwing Copper every so often.. Although Live has sort of become a parody of itself to me after these years. I can't help but sing along REALLY dramatically to "I Alone" or "All Over You" or whatever that one song was called. Overall, Live gets a thumbs up in my book.
Im guessing most of you dig the nineties music, especially early nineties? I was young and growing up during that period, so I love the nineties. And the late sixties, early seventies. But especially the nineties. I just wish music wasn't so god damn awful nowadays. Nothing pisses me off more than emo... Nothing. I seriously get mad when I see emo kids walking around. You'd get your ass kicked if you tried to wear that stuff back in the day. DUDES DONT WEAR MAKEUP AND CHICK CLOTHES.....
Sorry about the ranting, but don't mention LIVE and not expect me to go on a tirade about the 90's.

The 80's are back in style right now...so trends are leaning towards shitty music and awful clothes. The great thing about trends is that they eventually die and something new will rise to popularity. Eventually time will pass and people will feel like assholes for wearing and listening to the shit they did. There is a lot of great music happening today, you just have to look underground for it...but you don't have to look too far if you go to one of the many music festivals that happen every summer such as Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Langerado, 10,000 Lakes, All Good Festival, etc. That's where you can get exposure to quality bands from all different genres that you typically won't hear on the radio or see on MTV.

Wait...this is the same Live that did Throwing Copper?! Ohhhhhh...I know this band! They're pretty cool, at least they were, I don't know what they do today. It didn't even cross my mind before that it was the same band. #withstupid#
edit: I just checked their Myspace...it kinda...sucks, no? The songs they have on are like as typic as a rock song can be...

I really liked +Live's+ first album "Mental Jewelry", and their second album "Throwing Copper"! Last year, I picked up an album of theirs called "V" and I listened to it - and I definitely did not like it. I still need to listen to that third album that CT plays on.

Mental Jewelry is my favorite, too. I did like Throwing Copper and listened to it along with everyone else in the 90's, but it seemed a bit more mass-produced to me, just another album like so many others. Damn, I need to pull Mental Jewelry back out and give it a listen, if I can figure out where I put it. It has... funk. That's just what it has.

Two words: Christian Rock. And a third: Barf. The lead singer wasn't all that sensitive about the passing of Hoon. Chalked it up to heroin. Okay, maybe I've never liked Live. I was interested when I found out C.T. had done work on one of their albums. But I found out through a friend who incessantly related all of their lyrics to Christianity. They had their hits though, didn't they?

Thanks to the kind folks at the +Live+ Forum and +Live+ Rock Space, I was able to snatch a live video performance, which features Thorn. I'll take some stills and post them soon!
#rock#
I have access to a lot of +Live+ shows now.. The first thing I plan on doing is getting all available +Live+ shows that feature Thorn.
EDIT: One thing that I found to be REALLY weird during the video was the camera angle for part 2 (the show is in 3 parts). That night, the band was playing a venue called The Chameleon. During part two, the camera is fucussed quite a bit on Thorn's side of the stage. However, there is a speaker in the way...blocking some of the letters of the the VERY LARGE venue name, which painted on the back wall.
Most of the footage during part 2, where you can see Thorn a lot, has "Cha" blocked by a speaker... leaving only "meleon" ... It was the first thing I noticed when watching part 2..

They had their hits though, didn't they? That is strange, because I have always thought of +Live's+ lyrics as being anti-Christian. But I agree, with your statement about their lead singer just repeating what he had heard about Shannon dying from a heroin overdose. He could have maybe waited until he knew for sure, or maybe not even addressed the cause of the OD if he didn't know for sure. Matt, I'll look forward to hearing some shows that you get with CT playing on them. . . . . Thanks for digging deep to find this stuff. . .

Throwing COpper was most certainly a musical taste shift for me!! thanks for breaking me through fellas!!!!! I've often wondered why bands rarely outdue such great premier or sophmore albums.....is it perhaps all that time to get your first and second albums out, vs. the hustle n bustle of touring and trying to get an album in? i dunno...but it seems to happen alot. or could it possibly just that first impressions are sometimes difficult to match? *headscratch* ^^^^I think that album is one of very few that stands the test of time^^^^^
