What band have you guys found who's overall sound is most similar to Blind Melon. I have yet to find one, current or not so I'm hoping y'all can help.

see u asking that question and no one is going to have an answer to it because thats what makes blind melon, blind melon! no one has a sound like melon, they are their own sound.

Yeah, that is a pointless question... There is only one Blind Melon... Anyone who sounds like them are obviously copying them and i would totally not like their stuff... Lemonade said it best that "that's what makes Blind Melon"...

I don't think the question is pointless. I remember when mp3.com was cool. You could search for bands that "sound like" other bands. I found a lot of really cool stuff there. I did a Melon search once. None of them really sounded like Melon...just a few similarities. There was one band that really stood out: Ten Pound Brown.. I highly doubt you'll find anything on them, since they have broken up. I managed to grab a few MP3s though. Amazing band. Here ya go...you'll hear the similiarties, trust me: Ten Pound Brown - One for the Load^Very "all over the place"... I think even Melon members would dig this...Excellent! Ten Pound Brown - Lamond^Acoustic tune... Awesome singer.

I once heard blind melon described as a cross between Neil Young & Led Zepplin. So I guess they sound similar to them, not on their own though. It is rather pointless. Pearl Jam occaisionally sound like them.

I know, right?!
Let me know if you find full tunes. I found a site that lets you listen to clips from their album.. But, it's just a tease. I can't find a place to purchase the album either.

I`ve never heard any band that sounds like Blind Melon or that are even a little similar. Maybe it`s a good thing.Makes BM more exclusive, more special, more one of a kind.

I read this today, April 9, 2014, and checked Amazon. They had 2 used copies of Ten Pound Brown- No.2 for under $2 each.
Now they have one. ;-)
As for Melon-ish bands, I thought the old NYC band The Hatters had that similar 'down-home, back-porch, classic-rock' vibe with a jamband slant.
I read a review that stated the NYC band Larva and their one album Waiting For Daybreak had a Blind Melon influenced sound. They feature NYHC regular Todd Youth on guitar and their music (to me) is on the heavier side.
And lastly is a defunct Boston band called Mudfoot. I can't recall the name of their album off the top of my head, though I do have it. The review for it was 4 words:"File under Blind Melon."
