I can only say Blind Melon is definitly the first of my favorites but then I just can't classify anymore cause it really depends on the state of mind I'm in. Let's say something like this: Dave Matthews Band The Doors U2 The Beatles Bryan Adams (yeah, you read it well , people mostly hate him and every time I tell someone that I love his music I shock people (in case I did it again #sorry# ) but I still love his rock. I think he did a lot of shit after Everything I do, the stuff that sucks but there's still some I love so much and the albums before Everything I do rocks!) The Police Officina Zoe'

Blind Melon - Pure.Magic. Medeski Martin & Wood - if you've never heard of them check them out NOW! Grateful Dead - or any Jerry Garcia related project...he was a musical genius Damien Rice - Incredible songwriting and lyricist Sublime - Bradley Nowell wrote great song that defied genres I know this thread is about "bands" but I have to throw Tori Amos up in here because her genius is worth mentioning in any "greatest music of all time" discussion.

Hey, Gelf will definatly agree with you! She also runs a Tori Amos forum in case you didn't know!
