He sung back on on a bunch of songs for the Use Your Illusion CDs. I have a copy of him doing the tune "You Ain't The First" back in spring of 91 (nearly a year before Melon started touring) with GNR...Also on the show was "Don't Cry". The performance you saw on YouTube is from a show they did in Spring of 1992....about 1 year later. Yes i know he was involved in many songs on the Illusion records but did Shannon perform with Gn`r many times live..?

Sure. I'll do a little bit of digging and get back to you. Definiate Show dates: 5/16/91 4/9/92
I'll do some more searching.

I was just checking out this Gn`r forum and somebody there made a thread where he asked who Shannon was because he kept hearing about him,and that Shannon is the reason why Axl won`t preform Don`t Cry anymore.. So alot of people answered to him and gave him Shannons story with just a few words but one guy said something that stunned me.. "Axl found Shannon dead in the tourbus" I mean.... Where do people get these stories from??..It`s crazy!..

I`m sure Shannon passing away is the reason why Axl doesn`t do Don`t Cry with his new band..Apparently Axl said so in some interview in the 90`s but i havn`t read it,hope i find it someday!. Shannon was a big part of that song,he was in the studio recording the song,he was in the video and did it with Gn`r live a few times so i understand Axl not wanting to perform Don`t Cry anymore. See, Axl's not all that bad of a guy

Here is another quote that will make you say "don't believe everything you read".
"October 18, 1995. Eight weeks into the tour behind Soup, the band's second album of studio material, singer SHANNON HOON was found by New Orleans paramedics on the band's tour bus dead of an overdose."
Damn, if I remember correctly, wasn't it Jones that found him? I'm sure they say it on the VH1 Behind the Music. I'll pop that in later to varify.

I think you're right. If it wasn't Chris Jones, it was one of the roadcrew. I would seriously doubt that paramedics would just drop by on a whim.

Shannon Hoon, Blind Melon vocalist, died on a tour bus on October 21st in a hotel parking lot in New Orleans. To complete the rock ‘n’ roll legend, his corpse was discovered by Axl of Guns N’ Roses (editors note: this is completely false) Was this written in some news paper??...

Wasn`t it Lyle Eaves, the sound man who found Shannon?..I mean the one who saw his face first..Didn`t the whole crew go into the bus.
