No shit Matt!
OK, here's the report. The vinyl copy Brad sent arrived yesterday and I'm on Hold Tight right now and the pressing issue on the previous copy are non-existent. Wow, what a relief! Alka Seltzer for the Sol. Thanks Brad.
Just in case any questioning folks ask, 'why is this Jeff Black guy the end word on vinyl quality?' Well, lemme tell ya. I've been a vinyl user for 35 years. I've owned numerous tables and finally settled on a VPI Aries Scout back in 2005. Look it up. Not only is it a piece of visual art, it's a rock solid representation of how vinyl SHOULD sound. I just put a new stylus on it and retested all the adjustments - cartridge alignment, stylus weight, plinth balance, azimuth angle, all that fun shit - and well, I'm good at it because nothing, nothing, sounds better musically than a quality turntable, properly tuned, with a good cartridge (I have a Audio-Technica 150 installed) and proper speaker placement than an analog source. And, oh, isn't used vinyl shopping at questionalbe vinyl shops fun! Always like a search for gold in a mountain. Anyway, I stand by my experience. Hope I don't sound to haughty there but... I know quality vinyl and good mastering and pressing.
SO.... if you have ANY turntable, do not hesitate to buy the vinyl. Hell, even if you don't own a turntable, buy the vinyl anyway. Brad included a real groovy credit card shaped thing where you can download the mp3 of the album as a bonus. So, buy it and hang on protectively to the vinyl until you find someone who is like me with an amazing turntable so you can blow their mind too! hehheh. I'm in aural heaven right now. Won't be the same babies...
