Sadly I am not a torrent man. Those that have heard it, is the quality any different than listening to the tunes on iTunes?

Yea I meant myspace, but you guys knew that. Cool, sometimes Myspace page quality is frustrating in how close to the real version it can be, but not quite equal.

I think I'm MOST excited about the Rain Fur Rent stuff he posted on Oink...that will end a 1-2yr long search I've spent trying to get all those tunes.
I'm still looking for full quality versions of "Room" and "Rocket Logic" (my 2 favorite RFR songs), as the versions I have appear to have suffered quality loss.

Blind Melon has always been a grassroots band - just take a look at all the bootleg shows from the first album that are available out there. I'm thinking that back then they were kind of in tune with the whole Grateful Dead way of thinking (sharing music, bootlegging live shows, etc). And now that they've seen the rise and fall of the major label model, it makes sense to look at alternatives.
Justin Timberlake couldn't get away with leaking his own material because he writes disposable pop songs. People would download his CD or various songs and never think twice about actually buying his CD. Blind Melon is a completely different beast and I'd venture to say that everybody that downloads this stuff will go out and buy at least one copy of the CD. I can't tell you how many copies of the debut I bought the year it came out. I gave away so many copies, I probably funded part of Wishbone Studios!
Travis mentioned the fact that the new album is up on Oink before anybody on this board knew about it. So, one would have to think that the album was "leaked" intentionally by Travis and/or the band. And I don't think Travis would do something like that without permission from the rest of the band. I think it's kind of a "let's put it out there and see if people find it and dig it" sort of thing. I mean, let's think about it for just a minute … the band records everything at Wishbone Studios. To my understanding, they haven't sent it out to the factory to be manufactured yet so the only people that have access to the complete CD are the band members and people very close to them. It's not like they recorded it at some studio in L.A. and somebody snuck into the control room, stole a copy of the CD and then put it up on Oink.
Face it, we live in a world where even a band like Radiohead is playing around with releasing an album for free. It's not a big stretch to think that Blind Melon might be giving us a treat knowing that we'll buy the CD, the DVD, the live CD, t-shirts, concert tickets, personalized flannel shirts with the Blind Melon logo sewn on back (oh wait, maybe we won't buy those … that was an idea Brad had and told me about the very first night I met the band). I know I'll be buying a lot of Blind Melon related items besides just the CD.
I can't wait to be able to put the new stuff on my MP3 player.

I'm not sure if I agree with that.. It very well could have been a friend of the bands', or a friend of a friend of the bands. Personally, I have a CD that hasn't been leaked... and I'll never put it online, ever... The fact is, I could if I wanted to... I just respect the guys too much to do something like that...
I'm sure Travis, along with other members of the band, are really excited about the album.. Excited enough to share it with their friends... Who, in turn, share it with their friends..etc..
That's my take on it... Just a simple opinion. I don't think they would put it online, for free, themselves.

Bogo, you're my savior! #smileyhug# I use about three different computers lately and the only one where I can use Azureus is mine on which I don't have internet connection #banghead# So thank you! #smileyhug# Did you have to compress the files to fit them on that site or is it the same quality as on Demonoid?

i'm pretty sure travis was involved somehow, since both the new BM album + rain fur rent + other of his older stuff all was put up within an hour on oink and he was aware of it only a few days later + the guy uploading the stuff is called: TravisTonion. on top of that he gave us his blessings to download it (in fact he mentioned the OINK site himself).
i must admit that i had already downloaded it before i heard the interview, as i check oink everyday for new BM.

The new melon on Oink has been there for days as well as single songs that have been up for weeks. I have a real copy of the disc from the band and I doubt anything sounds better. Oink is the best torrent site out there if you are into certain types of music.
