We watched all the videos in the studio and it was a welcome break from work. A lot of them were pretty damned good, I must say. We were all impressed. Glen brought a bunch of stuff and we all signed it for the winner, which Glen is going to reveal later(he's on his way back home). We've been working crazy hours...initially intended to do 6 songs but are now doing 8 so we haven't taken any days off. I've got a scorching case of studio fever. There's a back patio on the studio, so I spent time out there chain smoking and thinking about breathing fresh air. Songs sound great...some things sound like things we've not done before, and some sound like they could've been on the first record. It's wierd. Some of them sound like hits from another era or something. I think these songs are going to turn peoples ears, but it's tough to say. Objectivity is impossible in the studio. It's nice to work this way because there's nobody telling us what they think we should be doing...it's all coming from within. I'm spending all day tomorrow in front of an amp turned all the way up directly in front of my face in order to get feedback. I did it yesterday and my ears rang even more than they usually do. I really get off on the volume, which is not a very smart thing to do. Brad is making fun of me all the time because I'm trying to play guitar solos over all the songs....it's a nervous habit. Again ....great job on the vids, folks.

Sounds great Rogers... can i ask a question? (that wasnt the question...lol) Did you get the songs from jam sessions, or were they individual ideas brought to the table, or both?

I don't know about the rest of you but I've got a scorching case of Blind Melon fever. #nature-smiley-015# Rogers, thanks so much for your post! ;D I almost feel like I just read a page out of your diary. I think it's incredible that you guys are able to do this on your own terms. It sounds like some really great material is manifesting in the studio. All of us are getting really excited about hearing what you've been up to.

Karen, do you want us to send you blank dvd's and postage for the dvd project? I don't think you should have to create the dvd and be the only one financially responsible for supplies and shipping. I will gladly send you some blank dvd's, mailers, whatever you need. ;D

I will gladly send you some blank dvd's, mailers, whatever you need. ;D I was thinking about that too, you definitely shouldn't be paying alone for all the dvds. I can send you too or maybe we can set up a trade and I send you a melon DVD in return if you don't have all of them already. Otherwise I have quite some shows on CDs too. I'll PM you my list.

song titles in order of my favorites:
1) Sometimes 2) Hypnotize 3) Wishing Well 4) Father Time 5) Broken Bones 6) Last Laugh 7) Underground 8) I Know (temporary title)
Everybody's got a couple of tunes here. We've all written a bunch more songs individually, but we haven't gotten to those. The process of choosing what to do is always fun. I've brought several things in that I was really high on and had 'em shot down in about 3 seconds. It's always odd to think you are on track with a song and then hear what everybody else thinks about it. The other guys liked the ones of mine that I liked the least. Travis has so many good ones that it's like fishing with dynamite to make choices there. He's really stepped up in a big way. Brad wrote "Father Time" and it's really beautiful....a sleeper. They all get deconstructed to various degrees...some of them change completely from the demo and some are pretty similar. "Sometimes" feels like something different than I can remember us ever doing....love it.

Awesome Rogers! #smileyhug# Thanks for feeding our addiction. Wishing Well is one of Travis' songs I think. He had that one up on his myspace. It's a great song, I can't wait to hear how it's been Melonized. I'm really curious now about what "Sometimes" is going to sound like.
