Ok, so Blind Melons back, right? Not only are they going to release a new album next year (keeping fingers crossed) but they're probably going to tour in support of it. They HAVE to play some old BM songs. The audience will be able to relate most with their old stuff, so they're gonna play some old songs for sure. What songs should they play and what shouldn't they play? What songs wouldn't be the same without Shannon? (Ok, of course they wont be exactly the same, but come on!) What songs do they absolutely have to play on the tour? Maybe we could get some request list going or something.
Should Play: Change, Tones of Home, Galaxie, Walk, No Rain, Holyman
Shouldn't Play: New Life, Soup, Soul One, Mouthful of Cavities, Car Seat (God's Presence)
Have to Play: No Rain, Change, I Wonder

I would add "2x4, and Paper Scratcher to the "Should Play" list. And put "Toes Across the Floor" on the "Have to Play" list. As far as "Shouldn't play" goes. I don't think there's anything that they "should'nt play." Shannon may have written the lyrics, but they're all Blind Melon songs. And even though a song like "New Life" was very personal to Shannon. The subject is still something that a many new fathers can relate to.

I want them to play whatever they choose to play. I'm sure their decision will be best. It's their music, they knew Shannon best (except maybe for the family) and I think whatever they'll decide to play will be right.
Of course there are some songs that I hope not to miss...I'd list them, but I think it will be too much of them, haha.
Change and Walk would be nice...but then there are so many others I want to hear them play!!!

I would'nt mind hearing some things off of Nico such as...Hell, Life ain't so shitty, Pull and All that I need just because i have never heard them live. I do't recall any live versions of sleepyhouse either.

I do't recall any live versions of sleepyhouse either. The Wetlands '93 show has a live version of Sleepyhouse. After listening to it, I think you'll agree that Sleepyhouse is one of those songs that are made for the studio but hard to do live.

Some songs are just like that. It's not that they can't be played live, they just sound better in the studio.

I think Mouthfull of Cavities might be one of those. I love the tune but it sounds like it might be trouble live. Does anyone know if they ever performed it?

They should play skinned and walk DEFINITELY! I think they should play Soul One because I thought that was Brad's song...am I wrong about that? I think the entire first album is fair game. I would love to hear Time, Soak The Sin, Paper Scratcher, Deserted, I Wonder...well the whole album, lol! I think the songs on Soup deal a little more obviously with Shannon's inner demons and they may be a little more hands off...I don't know. There are certain ones that I wouldn't expect to hear like Vernie and New Life. There are plenty of songs that I'd love to hear like 2x4, Wilt, Walk, Skinned... A lot of stuff on Nico may be hands off...I don't know. Personally I'd love to hear Glitch in a live situation...I think it would be really intense...maybe a good way to start the show with all the lights low. That song can raise some serious energy. I think Soul One would be ok. I know they did covers before, but I'd like to hear some new ones. I love to hear how they Melon-fy other people's songs. I also can't wait to hear their new songs. I wonder about what it's going to sound like...if the songs will even sound like anything we've heard before. I think there is a lot of postive energy surrounding this album so my instinct tells me it will either be similar in style to the first album (sort of getting back to their roots) or they are going to take it in a completely different direction and we'll be blown away. We'll be blown away no matter what I'm sure. This has been building up for a long time. I can't wait for the tour!
