Haha brilliant idea! I have alot of kazoos 'cuz they throw them at Mardi Gras every year.... hey, that's funny, do you, in US, call the carnaval in february "Mardi Gras" too? It's french and in France they call this event like this. u know close to where i live there is a club called "fat Tuesdays" translation..Mardi Gras.

Well I think it originally was called Mardis Gras, a fench term meaning Fat Tuesday. It is the day before Lent, a religious holiday. Lent is the 40 days before easter, and you are suppose to give up something special to you for these 40 days, and then on easter you celebrate. #cheers# So Fat Tuesday, or Mardis Gras is the big bash, last hoorah before you are suppose to exercise a little self control. Louisianna seems to know how to do that the best though!
Kinda like one last fattening meal beforea diet.... #worm# *wink wink*
That's all I can remeber from my "catholic school days" #goodevil# , maybe Azreal can fill us in a little more.

Hm, 40 days before easter, sounds like it's the same day. But I think the carneval here is on the second or third or last tuesday of february (sorry, I don't memorise those things too good, I could calculate but I don't even know on what date Easter is (I do know it changes every year) am I silly? lol cause we do celebrate easter here too but I'm just not too much into holidays, not that I hate them but I don't care much about them, it passes above my head - except for the fact that you get free days of course, haha).
But I like Mardi Gras. So what exactly do you do on Mardi Gras in US? Here people put silly cloths/costums on and party, or there are events for children etc... and children also go from door to door asking for candies and other sweets. Like you do on Halloween right? Do children in US do this on Mardi Gras too?

Uh, it is a dress up sorta thing. Alot of the Festival takes place in Louisianna. Now they like to dress down. Ladies will take their tops off for beads. It's really really unlike anything you could imagine, from what i've read and heard.

Hopefully children aren't spectators. I actually live on the East Coast of Canada and back in the Settlers days there were some French settlers who were deported and who ended up in Louisiana. Some Acadien French. I always felt bad for them. Just another reason why I felt connected to Blind Melon for recording where where i live has some ties to, even though it is almost a 2 two day drive.
u know what B, anything you can contribute would be cool....perhaps i can sent you some of Josh's things to give you an idea where we're comin from...

Yeah, we call it CARNAVAL in Brazil too.. except there it lasts a week... well not to mention they start having "pre-carnaval" parties every sunday a month prior... It is the BEST time of the year to be there, the whole country stops for a few days and EVERYONE goes out on the streets to drink, dance, make out, and just do everything they wanna do. Most people dress up too, although I never did.. Except when I was little. ;D

We have the same thing in February, we call it Carnevale (Carnival), when I was a child we doesn't celebrate Halloween like happens now, because Halloween wasn't our holiday, but it was carnival in February, with lots of sweets, cake, costume, confetti etc.

This is an awesome idea...guess i'll pitch in my thoughts while i'm here! I love shannon and blind melon of course even though I hardly own anything other than a few cd's.(Got three little mouths to feed, doesn't leave much extra spending $$) I also like animals, jewelry, candles, anything handmade with love I'm a little sentimental about that kinda stuff. Just the thought of someone thinking enough of me to send something is really cool to me. I've still got a yarn bracelet that my niece made when she was 7, she's 17 now . I'm very untalented unless you want something engraved then I can rock it hahaha (I said rock it, how dumb!) much love to you all!

I love the way Sleepyhouse flows into Holyman...that a good way to start? I like to think that i can play guitar...and I hate how I can't play guitar, so I LOVE to play drums. I like the summer, and going on road trips, traveling in general. I like reading, Chuck Palahniuk rules. Ever heard of Bonnie'Prince'Billy? i like him too. Pearljam QOTSA Janes Addiction Zeppelin Todd Snidder The Tragically Hip Hendrix Pumpkins... the list goes on. I love going to concerts, and preforming live (probably the biggest rush ever). I could go on about things I hate, but I have a feeling it would just end up beening some asshat rant about... well things I hate... working sucks.
I love coming here and sharing BlindMelon with SOOO many people.
And that is me for you.

Still need some clear/slim jewel cases for my massive stack of CDs gathering dust... All of the CDs I am talking about are bootlegs... I already got about 200.. I'm catagorizing all by alphabet... I made it to "C".. using the slims I already got.

I'm just sort of catching up on things here. but i had a pretty kewl random act of kindness yesterday that id like to share. continue reading if you'd like to you know, continue reading.
my friend and i have plans to go to another friend's house and "spend time". so my friend (we'll call him jack cuz well, thats his name) jack comes to my house to pick me up. we sit on my porch for a spell to smell (and of course inhale) the beautiful summer grass (of which probably began in the winter). I've got to tell the whole story for full effect. After getting our head all smooth and crisp, we head out for our journey to our friend molly's house.. (molly actually is not her name but well thats a really longer story that has nothing to do with this story) before we jump on the highway as molly lives about 20 minutes away i ask jack to stop by the store just next to the highway so that i can get cigarettes, as im out and am already in need of one. well, because of jack's current state he apparently wasn't listening to me when i asked him this favor. so instead he jumps on the highway... ack! so of course i yell at him, in the way only friends can. and so he gets off at the very next exit so i can get cigs.. that i guess was the first RAK. coming off the highway, red light shining back asking for obedience, i see a car in front of us that looks familiar... old friends i had lost touch with. so i ran up to their car, hugs all around, phone number for contacting later!! yaya! never would have happened if jack listened to me in the first place and went to the first store... thanks jack, sorry for yelling at you! 2nd RAK... but wait we're not done..... walking into the store there are two pretty girls with bright shiny smiles looking my way... why? that doesn't normally happen... Come to find out they are Miller High Life girls wanting to quiz me and promote their american beer... all fine and dandy girls, but i drink wine, or i drink guiness, not much chance im ganna drink high life, though i do enjoy living the highlife.. anyway, in the end, after answering 2 or 3 questions very wrong, they gave me a new t shirt! yeeowwers. the t says 'Living the High Life'.... or something like that anyway. so there you have it.... 3 RAKs in a matter of a few minutes. it was a pretty good day
