Well, I just read this entire thread, and it made me cry. I suppose because Shannon is gone, and his mother carries on his legacy with such vigor. She was his biggest fan, and I like to think that he was hers as well. My first vigil was two years ago, and I was rather intimidated by the whole situation as some of you stated on here. All that went away when I first met Nel. I was walking around her for a little bit, not wanting to interrupt her in any conversation or interfere in anyway with her on her son's day. When I finally said hello to her, she hugged me as if I was a good friend of hers and we hadn't seen each other in a long time. She asked where I was from and I told her Pennsylvania, and she thanked me for coming all that way for the vigil. Yeah, she thanked me. WOW!!! I asked her where she got the squash blossom necklace for Shannon, because I wanted to get one. I didn't want a replica, I just wanted one in general, becaue they are beautiful pieces of artwork. Then she said something that I will never forget, "Don't get one, I want my Shannon to be the only one." I had goose bumps to the tenth degree. I never really wanted to tell this story, kinda like me own personal Nel story, but I guess the reason I am is so that those of you who have not yet met her are not scared or intimidated. She is the kindest woman you are likely to meet, and an excellent hugger to boot. Oh, I almost forgot, after the initial meeting at my first vigil. I was walking around just kinda soaking it all in and Nel comes and says to follow her, that she has something to show me. So I do, and she takes me to her mother (Vernie) who is wearing Shannons necklace. I was standing with Nel and looking at the necklace being worn by Shannon's grandmother. I just stared at it, and then I looked at Nel said thank you and gave her a big hug. She is a beautiful soul and someone who I am proud to call a friend. peace

I am new here and I just keep seeing more and more things to make me love this forum more and more. How thoughtful of everyone to help out Nel! And how sweet does Nel seem? It's all about keeping the spirit alive! And it's all about love!

When I was on tour and went to the farmacy, the guy (seller) noticed my Nel's necklace and was curious about it. He didn't know about Blind Melon or Shannon but I told him Shannon's mom makes wonderful necklaces and gave him the link to her site. I hope I convinced him and he buys something

Was this in CT Barb? I wish I would have known he was interested. I'm sure Gabby & I were wearing Nel jewelry we could have shown him.

I don't remember the city where it was but it wasn't in CT, we were already all 7 then. it was when you bought your shoes (umm, not really shoes, I forgot the word), I think we ate there, maybe where IHOP was? Anyway, you went to buy shoes and I went to the pharmacy that was inside some kind of a wall mart.
