Just wanted to get a feel for who might want to meet up before the Omaha show.
The show is unfortunately not right in the Old Market district like I was assuming it was. I know of a great bar in the Old Market with insanely cheap drinks (the Underground - a hidden gem underneath a little French restaurant on Howard St.), but it's a mile from the venue.
Ryan - what time you getting in town?

Ryan - what time you getting in town? I leave Friday the 21st after I get off work. I will drive halfway into Nebraska (maybe Grand Isle) and stay there for the night, and I will get up on Saturday morning, and drive the rest of the trip to Omaha. So I am hoping to get there in the early afternoon. It will be cool to see some familiar faces up there in Omaha.

I just rolled into town and got my hotel room. I'll be getting the recording equipment double-checked so I can hopefully get a decent recording tonight. I hope they play "I Wonder"!

Ryan, you're undoubtedly having a super awesome time in the fine city of Omaha. I know there's a lot of exciting stuff to do around there so if you are able to tear yourself away from the sights of the city, please keep us posted on the evening.

Blind Melon 03-22-2008 Omaha, Nebraska Slowdown
01. Hello-Goodbye 02. Galaxie 03. 2 x 4 04. Toes Across the Floor 05. For My Friends 06. Soup 07. (With the) Right Set of Eyes 08. Drive 09. Paper Scratcher 10. Sleepyhouse 11. I Wonder 12. Cheatum Street 13. Wishing Well 14. Change 15. Hypnotized 16. Sometimes 17. Skinned 18. Soak the Sin 19. Wilt 20. No Rain 21. The Pusher 22. Mouthful of Cavities 23. Time
The show was amazing! Slowdown is a very cool club that is apparently only a year old.
I got to meet several different people at this show, and I handed out the Forum business cards to several people throughout the evening. Talked with Glen very shortly before the show which is always cool. I was very excited to see Kacie, and we planted ourselves in the front row to represent the Forum! #rock#
I don't recall the name of the opening band right now, but when I get a chance to go through my pictures, I think I took a picture of the chalkboard near the doorway. The opening band was alright, but I was really looking forward to Blind Melon.
Travis walked out onstage with several strands of hair sticking straight up. Almost like "Something About Mary". . . ;D
The highlights of the night for me were hearing: I Wonder, Right Set of Eyes, Sometimes, and Mouthful of Cavities. I think this was only the second time that they have played "I Wonder" since the 1990s. It sounded great, and I got a decent video of it. Mouthful was sang without a female back-up vocalist, but it still sounded amazing. CT really wails on the slide guitar on this one!
No Rain started out with the ripped away version, but every time I hear it, I think it gets even more jammy and explorative, before going into the regular No Rain. And I know I have said this before, but the new ending to 2 x 4 where it builds and builds, and builds. . . is simply amazing!
I know that this show was taped by two people besides myself. And one of those tapers was also recording video of the show. So hopefully we will see those pop up around the trading circles.
I probably won't be able to post videos or photos until I make it back to Denver, but I will share them as soon as I possibly can. ;D
well, I hope all of you like Nebraska football, because I bought everyone Cornhusker souvenirs! #thumb#

Thanks for the thorough update Ryan! I'm very jealous that you experienced I Wonder. Right Set of Eyes would have been the icing on the cake for me. I can't wait to hear your recording and see all of your pics and vids. Have fun in St. Louis tonight! I'm anxiously awaiting my Cornhusker souvenir from the heartland of America.
